(Must Play) Ringgz – crazy good twist on classic brick breaker game!
Mar 13, 2014 12:31 PM –
Ringgz is not your typical brick breaker game, yet it places inside a circle of bricks to smash. It’s fast-paced, challenging and totally addictive as you try to go as long as you can to rotate & crush the inner blocks unleashing endless rings. There’s some interesting power-ups and obstacles in this feat. Let’s get into the video review!
Tested on: Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Pros & Cons:
- Real awesome twist on classic brick breaker games!
- Totally fast-paced, challenging and addictive!
- Many power-ups and power-downs!
- Only one game mode (for now!)

Ringgz is a colorful action arcade game with the goal to go as long as you can and breaking as many bricks as possible. It’s not set on a flat plane of controlling a horizontal platform to Pong a ball and smash blocks atop as we’ve become accustomed to in classics like Arkanoid or Breakout, but the ball is set in the center of rows of circular blocks. As you eliminate the inner ring a new outer ring will emerge. But be careful not to break as many on the outer ring as you’ll send your ball out of bounds and have to restart… deducting a ball. To help you (and it can be an obstacle) you can spin the rings in any direction, but do so with strategy as the meter on the right determines how much spin maneuverability you have left. The lower bar means more spins, while the higher bar means you’re about to ‘lock’ the rings for a short period of time. And as you can guess this can hurt if locked out.
That’s just one of many power-ups and power-downs in the game, others include; multiple balls, growing ball, ring hardener, and if that wasn’t enough to multi-task… there are mini-games going on in the midst to get four colors in a row to increase point multipliers. These are accumulated in the bottom left corner. Bonuses come so fast that you barely have time to see the points racked up from them.
There are global leaderboards powered by Google Play Games. The only drawback is the lone gaming mode- though the developer plans to introduce a Survival Mode and Time Trial Mode… I’m looking forward to these additions. The graphics are very minimal, smooth and explosive but bright and ever-changing… psychedelic at times. The techno music and sound effects suits the action well.
