According to a recent survey by Changewave, Android has overtaken the iPhone as the most desirable smartphone on the market. The OS has made some spectacular industry moves, as far as user interest and number of handsets sold. Now the OS has poised itself to be a bit more than a mobile operating system. Android has been utilized in more than one technical device, and in technology outside of the mobile phone market, making more than just phones smart these days. Android has been seen earlier this year at the 2010 CES show in the likes of refrigerators, dishwashers and microwaves, bringing the most sought after OS to your kitchen, imagine that.
Now the OS has continued its move directly into the next room. Android will now be the background system of your HD TV. By years end a Swedish company by the name of Lava will release the worlds first Android TV. For the price tag of around $2700 the Scandinavia will feature Google’s Android OS and be able to feature apps on the home screen of your TV. So as expected you will have your everyday almost necessary apps of Facebook, YouTube, ect. The exciting part is that since Android is open source, thousands of skilled developers will be able to build and design custom apps just for the TV. Imagine the creativity and the new undiscovered realm of TV apps.
Lets hear of some of the fun creative ideas our readers have for applications for the TV, who knows who may be watching
