Quickoffice Pro, a must-have app for Microsoft Office on Android Install

Quickoffice Pro is a professional grade Microsoft Office application for Android. Import, view, create, edit and export Presentation, Word Processor and Spreadsheet documents. The app also lets you view PDF documents while on the go. Highly intuitive and including a slew of useful features, Quickoffice Pro is a truly superb app and prefect if you spend time using office documents.

Price: Free, $14.99 (in AndroidTapp Store), $19.99

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Create Word, Powerpoint and Excel documents on the go!
  • Rich and intuitive interface!
  • Import documents for viewing!
  • Create docs in various Microsoft Office formats!
  • Easy connection to cloud accounts!

Cons

  • Expensive.

Features:

Quickoffice Pro is a hugely powerful and feature-rich Microsoft Office suite for Android. While the majority of office documents are, generally speaking, in Microsoft formats; Word, Excel and Powerpoint, there is a need on Android for a comprehensive tool for on-the-go creation and editing of these documents. Quickoffice Pro has become a top solution for this. There are a smattering of Office suites on Android, most notably DocumentsToGo and Google Docs. I’ve tried all of these at one time or another and while they’re all very decent apps Quickoffice Pro comes out on top for me, especially on the mobile platform.

Intuitiveness

The principal reason for this is the way it blends functionality with intuitive interface. The UI is a brilliant example of converting the functionality and complexity of a PC application onto the smaller touchscreens of our mobile devices. Quickoffice Pro has a very familiar feel to it, and things are laid out very simply, but without losing any functionality.

With Google Docs for example, the formatting and the options available on your mobile device are incredibly limited. Fine perhaps for note taking or viewing previously created documents, but no where near as functional as the web-based app it derives from. DocumentsToGo is a sturdy and full-featured app, but I do not find it quite as intuitive to use. The environment is not as familiar and I often had to look for things without them ‘just being there’ where I thought they should be.

Documents

With Quickoffice Pro, you can create, modify import and export principally 3 kinds of document: Word, Spreadsheet and Presentation. These, in-app, are named Quickword, Quicksheet and Quickpoint respectively. You can also view PDF documents in QuickPDF. The beauty of Quickoffice Pro is that you can view documents regardless of the Microsoft version. When you create a document you get a choice of Microsoft Office flavours. So, depending perhaps on your home or office Office environment, you can create in Word 2010, Word 2007 or Word 1997-2003. Ideal if you have previously encountered issues with compatibility.

Cloud Access

Another superb feature is the ability to access any number of cloud based storage solutions. It might not be practical to store hundreds of work documents on your device, but you can have access if they are all stored in the cloud. Quickoffice lets you access Google Docs, Dropbox, Box, Evernote, catch, SugarSync, Huddle, Egnyte and Mobileme accounts quickly and seamlessly. In an organised office environment these make it far easier for colleagues to share and exchange documents.

But…

… all this comes at a price. Even the fact Quickoffice Pro is currently on sale (from $19.99), it’s still probably far more than you would pay for any other app. Google Docs is, while having far fewer features, completely free, so would certainly be more tempting for your wallet. I think what it comes down to is how you use documents while on the go. Quickoffice Pro is beautiful to use and there’s no getting away from the friendly and detailed UI which enables even complex functionality even when away from the office, something which is severely lacking with lesser apps.

My suggestion would initially be to see if Google Docs is enough for you. My thoughts would be that, if you engage with MS Office documents a great deal, it might not be. Next suggestion would be then to give Quickoffice Pro Trial a go. It’s a fully-featured 7-day trial so it should give you plenty of time to play around with the app to see if it’s right for you. Quickoffice Pro is expensive, but I feel you really get what you pay for. At least one nice difference between it and Microsoft software licensing however is that it doesn’t have to be renewed! :D

Usefulness:

If you use a lot of Microsoft Documents this is incredibly useful and an essential app. If you spend a lot of time on the move and could use a functional and feature-rich Office app on your Android device, there are no apps that really measure up to Quickoffice Pro. The three stand-out features here are: functionality, access to cloud services and intuitive UI.

Ease of Use:

Quickoffice Pro’s ease of use is one of the best features. If you are familiar with the Microsoft Office environment, the format and layout of the app is automatically recognisable and familiar. It’s simple to create, modify, view and share documents even if you are not seated at your PC or laptop. There is also lots of support both in-app and online so any problems you might have (and I genuinely think the app is set up to avoid any such user-issues) then it is no more than a click away.

Frequently Used:

Depending on your work-life, this is easily something you could use daily. Because it’s so easy to use, it might be something you prefer to use rather that waiting to get back to your computer.

Interface:

The interface is a huge selling point. Quickoffice Pro is incredibly intuitive and the interface is top-notch. Professional, easy to navigate and rich with useful features and options.

Should you Download Quickoffice Pro (Office & PDF)? Of all the Microsoft Office suite apps I have tried, Quickoffice Pro is by far the one I prefer. It blends a wealth of functionality with intuitive controls perfectly. There’s no getting away from the fact it is an expensive application but if you have a need for this kind of professional mobile tool, it’s well worth the money. As mentioned, try out the Trial first and see how you get along. There is also an HD version of Quickoffice Pro- so definitely have a look at this if you have an Android tablet.

It seems there are lots of people still having the same problem, not being able to access a USB or MSD from Quickoffice Pro. My Acer a500 can mount the USB and MSD devices and I can view them with a file manager but can’t access them with your program. This was the reason I purchased your program. I have updated the app but it still doesn’t work…..any suggestions?????

If you are unable to have the program access these devices how do I go about getting a refund?

    Thanks

Hello Dean, have you purchased the app from us or Google Play? If you purchased from us you can always re-download simply by logging into your AndroidTapp.com account (if you created one at purchase) and download. Or even easier, use the same download link in the email we sent you at purchase. Please advise if that helped.

Looks like super app. How do you transfer (sync) docs between the phone and your laptop/desktop?

Would be better if they would ever update the print function to work with newer OS. Now it was a waist of my money.
