Pros
- ProOnGo reads your receipts saving the data and archiving the original receipt image!
- Track expenses and mileage on the go via mobile phone!

Cons
- Requires more in terms of in-app training for the end user. This could includes a demo mode where users can play around with the app without the fear of adding to their expense account.
- Syncing doesn’t always work.
Features & Usefulness:
If you have to fill out expense reports you know very well how much of a pain it is to first keep up with receipts, secondly fill out the report, and finally reimbursement. 
Additionally, you might be a business owner or manager who oversees expense accounts for your employees. Juggling multiple accounts in an efficient way can be challenging.
ProOnGo Expense Tracker can help alleviate those pains in a number of ways. For example, it allows you to take a picture of your receipt, which can then be uploaded to ProOnGo’s servers for character recognition before spitting back the key data to the app. Thereafter you can edit information like Merchant, Description, Category, Type, Client Name and Payment Type. You can add expenses separately if you wish, or even allow the app to track mileage expenses via GPS.
The app then lets you export expense reports in various formats; standard Excel spreadsheet, custom Excel Spreadsheet, PayServ, XML, CSV and QuickBooks Pro. Purchasing the premium monthly subscription gives you the ability to upload custom spreadsheets (maybe your company template) in which data uploads to. What’s cool is that receipt images are uploaded and linked within the spreadsheets too!
The app is free to download but you’ll need a subscription to make the most of the service. The subscribed version offers a variety of additional options including: QuickBooks sync, Expense Workflow, Mobile-web sync and personal support. Lastly, it’s worth noting that we learned the app runs hand written receipts by human eyeballs for better accuracy.
The app has been updated a great deal since we reviewed the app back in 2010. The interface would appear to be smoother and more polished. The pricing structure has changed slightly and, once you know how to use it, the app seems more user-friendly. I did feel end-users (perhaps your employees) might require a little more in-app support in terms of tutorials than the application currently offers as it’s a bit daunting to begin with. This really should include a demo mode of some kind fo people can feel free to add mock-expenses to ensure they’re doing so correctly.
I did note, however, that the app doesn’t always sync. During testing I had to reset my device and, when I reinstalled the app and logged back in, no expenses were detected.

Usefulness
ProOnGo is extremely useful for keeping track of expenses, whether you run your own business and need to monitor finances carefully, or manage a team of individuals who each require expense accounts. The fact the app can powerfully aggregate all this info, from (potentially) lots of external resources and produce up-to-date reports, graphs and charts, make it a seriously powerful and useful service.
Ease of Use:
ProOnGo is an easy app to use day-to-day, but only when you know how. I thoroughly evaluate and test all kinds of applications so it didn’t take too much getting used to personally. However, apps like this can only be as strong as your weakest end-user and I didn’t feel there was adequate support in-app to be able to rely on 100% competency for all users. There are some good resources on the website, but some end-users might require a little more hand-holding to avoid issues or confusion.
I should add here that for a number of years I actually used to sell software to small/medium sized businesses so perhaps have more of a grasp of these kind of requirements.
Frequently used:
This would depend on the individual users and the team manager who might supervise the service usage. It is, however, easily set up for frequent daily use.
Interface:
The interface isn’t especially frilly, but is rather professional and straightforward. It does provide a large variety of options and I can foresee a solution like this requiring a little staff training and guidance, especially if the team is a diverse set of individuals with differing levels of technical and software knowledge.
