ProOnGo Expense is an award-winning expense tracking app that makes storing and managing your expenses easier. With the subscription-based Receipt Reader, just take a picture of your receipt then the app will extract the receipt amount, merchant name and the date and automatically generate your expense report. (For Android version 2.0 and higher).

Pros
Cons
If you have to fill out expense reports you know very well how much of a pain it is to first keep up with receipts, second fill out the report, and finally reimbursement.
ProOnGo Expense helps to alleviate those pains by allowing you to take a picture of your receipt, it uploads to ProOnGo’s servers for character recognition and spits back the key data to the app. Thereafter you can edit information like Merchant, Description, Category, Type, Client Name and Payment Type.
The app even allows export of expense reports in various formats; standard Excel spreadsheet, custom Excel Spreadsheet, PayServ, XML, CSV, and QuickBooks Pro. Purchasing the premium monthly subscription gives you the ability to upload custom spreadsheets (maybe your company template) in which data uploads to. What’s cool is that receipt images are uploaded and linked within the spreadsheet too!
The free service caps receipt uploads to 5 per month (which is the reason why you go Pro, right)? Mileage tracking can be done as well. Lastly, we learned the app runs hand written receipts by human eyeballs for better accuracy.
Now the Gripes… ProOnGo does have issues with recognizing some receipts, which results in either rescanning or entering the data yourself, thus defeating the convenience purpose. In comparison to its Blackberry and iPhone counterparts, the Android version could benefit from the same polish.
ProOnGo Expense is currently not the greatest app for expense tracking, nor has it perform well for me in my experience with it, it’s actually been a love-hate relationship (kinda like how Twidroid app for Twitter was a year ago, now that app is awesome)… it does however provide a level of convenience with expense reporting. Here’s a few tips how to get best use out of it:

Watch for a new polished version coming soon – including better Receipt Reader results as well as other popular customer requests. You can always turn off the Receipt Reader in settings\options if you always want to type in the expenses (like every other expense app).
Thanks for the review!
