Probe the Humans is a cute and addictive arcade-style abduction game! You are an alien and you have to abduct as many humans (and animals) as possible. Avoid obstacles including cars, buildings and fences, collect coins and use power ups to boost your score. While the game is a ‘freemium’ title, it is never-the-less very playable and superbly challenging!
Price: Free, plus In-app purchases
Tested on: HTC One X
Content Rating: Low Maturity
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Highly addictive!
- Beautiful graphics!
- Humorous, fun and entertaining!
- Easy to control!
- Lots of items to add in the store!
Cons
- Can get a little repetitive.
Features:
Probe the Humans is a delicious dose of close encounters where you, as an alien, have to beam up humans and animals into your UFO. Starting in a nice rural environment, there’s plenty of animals and old-timer farmers to abduct- but there’s also fences, buildings, cars and huts that you must avoid at all costs. You get a certain amount of life which diminishes when you accidentally beam these up and when this is empty you crash to the ground Roswell-style!
Controls are ridiculously simple. The beam is on all the time and you automatically hover through the scenery, meaning you just have to control the direction of the beam itself. Swoop it over cattle, sheep, pigs and humans for points. The more points you earn the better your overall score. The main goal is to get as many points as possible before you crash.
One other thing you need to collect are coins. These can be used in the game Store to purchase power-ups, additional humans, new UFOs and more. Coins are actually quite easy to earn and, while you can fork out for coins via in-app purchases, the game is perfectly playable without, it’s just the new items makes gameplay a bit more diverse and enjoyable.

Fun Factor:
Probe the Humans is brilliant fun. Collecting animals, humans and coins is challenging but also very rewarding when you beat a previous score. Because controlling the beam is so easy, it’s automatically straightforward to play and, although tricky at first, it quickly becomes natural. You additionally have a large number of objectives to complete, giving the game a great deal of longevity for the serious gamer.
Addictive:
Probe the Humans is casual gaming at its finest. I’m not sure if it’s a game you can play for really prolonged periods of time, but for small doses of engaging and highly addictive bouts of extraterrestrial shenanigans, this is flawless. I really like the fact that the game is immediately playable and doesn’t require in-app purchases if you don’t want to. It’s the kind of game that is fun enough on its own, yet engaging enough to make you consider investing a dollar or two to boost your power-ups and items. It certainly puts many other freemium titles to shame.
Graphics:
The graphics are irrepressibly smooth and brilliantly designed and animated. The game is full of colour and movement throughout- check out the cars, each with headlamps blazing, the scuttling sheep and meandering farmers- all utterly superb.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is an excellent feature of the game. Everything you encounter has its own noise and, as you unlock new items, they too have different sounds. It creates and rich and diverse audial tapestry which brings the game to life.
