Power Manager Android App adds NEW power settings to the phone (e.g. screen timeout during a call, etc.) and allows you to quickly view and change other phone settings depending on different conditions (e.g. low battery).

Price: Free Trial, $0.99

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Power Manager Android App is undeniably one of the best paid Android Apps! [Source: Android Market #1 paid app]

Features:

Power Manager Android App features many ways to save battery juice for your Android phone.  It comes with pre-configured “Profiles” or you can customize your own. Profiles are power settings based on phone usage or events. For example, “Low Power” profile will dim the screen and turn off Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS locations for you automatically. In customizing your own Profiles, you can set events with “Triggers” such as Battery, A/C, USB powered, etc.

Usefulness:

Most useful for the poor battery life of the T-Mobile G1. G1 users are haunted with the battery life woes and Power Manager Android App can alleviate some of that pain by managing unnecessary power usage automatically.

Ease of Use:

It couldn’t get any simpler to use, simply download the app and it runs in the background. The predefined Profiles start working immediately based on what power setting you’re running. Setting up Profiles are pretty intuitive; simply tapp the power settings you desire based on Triggers.

Frequently Used:

Intended for use as long as your Android phone is powered on.

Interface:

The user interface is simple and easy to use. Plus you can easily toggle Profiles or settings in a few tapps.

  2. Darrin says:

I own this app and it is great, but one problem…it’s WON”T WORK with the Cupcake update.

  3. Rob Spencer says:

My G1 has just updated to build CRB17 (UK – these are out of sync with US builds) and Power Manager will not run. Will there be an update soon to fix this as this app is the only thing which keeps my G1 running all day!

  4. Marcus Borg says:

I am sure you know already. I had the Cupcake 1.5 release last night and noted that Power Manager tripped immediately upon power up with the error “Sorry! The application Power Manager (process.com.ace.android.powermanagerpro) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again”
I uninstalled and reinstalled Power manager, without success.

  5. Alexis says:

Bumped into the same problem: “Sorry! The application Power Manager (process.com.ace.android.powermanagerpro) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again”
    Anyone any idea ?

Just to update this thread. I got a nice quick mail back from the developer a day after I posted this and an update was written and rolled out within days. Nice response. Thanks

  7. Ricky says:

I love this app, but I heard from another site, that this app is responsible for the G1′s not vibrating for SMS after installing it. Do you know if that’s true, and if it is, how to fix it? I miss my phone vibrating for texts.

    What a POS..

I have a samsung fascinate and my screen is BLACK.. taking out the battery and rebooting did nothing!!

    WTF

    • Lynette says:

Are you using an aftermarket charger? If so try an oem? I had this issue with my brand new Samsung Intercept. Plugged it into the charger it came with and was able to reboot.
