Pocket Pond 2 is a soothing Tamagotchi-style game where you must build and flourish beautiful ponds filled with Koi and other complimenting aquatic life.
Price: Free, plus In-App Purchases
Tested on: Samsung Galaxy S3
Content Rating: Everyone
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Earn and build beautiful Koi ponds with some of the rarest fish ever seen!
- Very addictive and encourages you to come back frequently, rewards are worth it!
- Very good gaming “threshold”, meaning purchasing things to progress is totally optional and not a necessity.
Cons
- Very small glitch of phantom fish in the game.
Features:
Pocket Pond 2 starts you off with a great hands-on walk through of exactly what you’re doing to purchase Koi and other aquatic life (such as turtles and frogs), feeding your fish, decorating your pond, breeding, keeping your pond clean, manage currency, level up and so much more.
You start off with one pond and the most common type of Koi, Rose Ash Asage, and you can earn or purchase enough Koins with real cash to buy some of the rarest Koi fish such as; Green Grass Pladi & Pearl Gum Utsuri. Speaking of the currency system, let’s get acquainted with the top navigation system:

Pocket Pond 2 Koin System
…from left to right are Koins (used in combination with credits to purchase other Koi and items), Credits, Food pellets, Level with time left on the level. There are two ways to increase these; either by carefully maintaining your pond(s) and purchasing less common Koi that will slowly accumulate your currency over time, or folk over a few bucks and purchase currency packs. I choose the latter and it was not bad, pretty low priced, however, some prefer completely free. And you totally can play this game free, you just have to invest time.
You can feed your fish by double tapping anywhere in the water, wait a bit as you’ll be able to see them come snag a bite. Single tapping scares them off and they scurry out of view. If you hold your finger on the screen for a while, and be patient, one will come by and show you some affection and you’ll feel the haptic feedback as the phone vibrates. Using the Select arrow you can tap on any of your creatures to see their status and make adjustments if needed.
It’s definitely worth spending some time in the Menu as you learn you can earn awards, earn Koins with daily gifts or gamble for them, lure & catch new Koi, and even connect to Facebook if you want your friends to know your mobile Koi wrangling passion.

Fun Factor:
In my opinion Pocket Pond 2 is more relaxed and casual fun, especially enjoyable for those who love Koi ponds.
Addictive:
The nature of the game is set up very similar to a tycoon game or Tamagotchi-style game, so it’s very addictive and commands you to come back periodically, whereas you have to take care of the species and keep their well-being healthy in order to progress and build.
Graphics:
All of the environment is presented in smooth 3D, however, I noticed in my pond that I had a phantom fish. Meaning, you could see its shadow swimming by and interacting but not the actual fish. Probably a slight glitch in the game? Overall Pocket Ponds 2 can allow you to explore your imagination and build a truly breathtakingly beautiful pond.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Part of the game wants you to earn enough Koins to be able to purchase various Zenful or nature filled sound packs. Whether you upgrade the sound or not it still defaults to some soothing tunes of nature.
