Pix: Pixel Mixer is a gorgeous photo editing tool. If you enjoy tweaking pictures within a slick user interface this is ideal for you. While not a social network, such as Instagram, Lightbox Photos and Streamzoo, Pix: Pixel Mixer offers a similar function to the superb Pixlr-o-matic or the recently reviewed FX Photo Editor. However, Pix has a few cool tricks up its sleeve…

Features:
Pix is a beautiful and intuitive photo editing tool which is available on both Android and iOS. The app lets you smoothly select either to take a photo or upload from your gallery, then the fun begins.
We’ve covered photo editing apps before, lots in fact. Then there’s the apps with more dedicated sharing platforms, so what makes Pix stand out? Well, not only does it feature a heavy slew of filters and effects to play around with, but it lets you blend these together- how cool is that?
Pix is incredibly simple to use. Simply take or choose a picture and it uploads quickly. Along the very bottom of the screen you can select between filters, effects, frames, favourites and randomize. The filters, effects and frames are displayed along the bottom and you can scroll through these by sweeping your finger left and right. Tapping an item adds it to your picture, tapping again removes it. The app allows you to select up to three different filters at one time, and some filters have three levels which you can use to increase or decrease the effect. Selected filters are displayed along the left hand side and these can be touched again to delete. You can then select to add an effect and a frame, of which there is plenty of choice.
You can also select to randomise your effects and filters or apply your favourites. As you try out different filters you can add a star next to them. This saves your favourite combinations allowing you to apply these at any time in the future. Once you have finalised your picture, tap the X sign in the top right. Here a neat animation reveals a choice of home, save, share, start editing again or report errors. At any time you can touch the main part of the picture to hide these menus. All of this is slickly animated and very smooth to use.
The three stand-out features of Pix are the UI, the wide range of frames, effects and filters to choose from and the ability to add multiple effects at once. Combined these make for a powerful, handy and great-to-use app that will compliment the device of any photo editing fan.

Usefulness:
I know there are plenty of Android users who like to tweak and edit photos. The most popular of good apps for this is probably Pixlr-o-matic. Pix is similar in many ways and, while it doesn’t quite match Pixlr-o-matic for individual filters, does let you blend them together which is very cool.
Ease of Use:
Pix is extremely simple to use and always feels intuitive. Uploading pictures is very quick and it’s straightforward to add, remove and combine filters, frames and effects.
Frequently Used:
This will obviously depend on how many pictures you take and how much you enjoy tinkering with the results. I think Pix is a cool app to add to the apps you currently use. The range is very good and it’s lots of fun to play with.
Interface:
The interface is beautiful; bubbly animations and slick transitions. It’s right up there with the likes of Pixlr-o-matic and Lightbox Photos in terms of rich and ambitious user interfaces that looks really good within both Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich versions of Android.
