Say it within a picture. With PicSay you can quickly add word balloons, titles, and props to the pictures on your mobile phone. Enhance them with various color correction, highlighting, and distortion effects, and then easily share them with your friends and family via e-mail, your blog, or the popular photo sharing sites on the web.

Usefulness:

PicSay is one of the more Fun (and sanity saving) Android Apps. When i’m not browsing the web, emailing or texting… you’ll find me playing around in PicSay on my G1.

Ease of Use:

There is some getting used to for first timers, but simply playing around in the program… you get acquainted with its use; such as resizing elements, zooming, andcreating effects. We recently interviewed the creator of PicSay Eric Wijngaard and he shares some tips & tricks among other insights. If you can’t figure out how to use PicSay, it offers a Help guide via the mobile browser… tapp Menu.

Features:

PicSay has a bunch of features including auto-rotation from Portrait to Landscape photo editing, simply rotate the phone. PicSay allows you to do the following photo editing features: Word Balloon, Title, Props, Effects, Share, Set & Save to SD Card.

The Word Balloon feature allows you to create cool text inside a thought cloud. Title allows you to create interesting text title graphics. Props has a group of vector graphics you can include to make your creation goofy like; lil android, googly eyes, horns, shades and Santa hats. Effects offers some Photoshop like photo manipulation quality on a mobile phone. The effects are: Distrort, Spotlight, Marker, Pixelize, Brightness, Contrast, Temperature, Colorize, Saturation, Hue, Dizziness, Sepia Toning, and Invert. You could literally use PicSay to color, tone or contrast correct some of those subpar 3.2 megapixel camera pics on your G1. What’s also cool, you can Share your creations via Email, Gmail or MMS text message. Finally, you can Set PicSay creations as your background wallpaper and Save to SD Card.

With most of these mentioned features, there is a little unknown feature to insert commonly used text (tapp the + symbol) such as; Common Phrases (a list of predefined phrases), Location Based (shoots back phrases bases on your location with GPS), Date & Time. PicSay will soon offer a premium version for saving more than the latest 9 creations on your phone.

Frequently Used:

The frequency of use is a personal preference because the app can be enjoyed by may types of users. I personally enjoy it because of my artistic background.

Interface:

The interface is Awesome, you can see Eric’s experience in creating Photoshop plugins benefits the user interface in this app. If you haven’t noticed, the menus fly in/out, confirm/reject graphic buttons animate and it is optimized for easy thumb/finger photo fun. (say that 3 times fast)
