Features:
PBA Bowling Challenge features two gaming modes; either Quickplay for a few casual rounds or you can enter Career mode where you must first qualify for the tournament in order to compete. These areas are where you build your skills, getting acquainted with various bowling balls. Some you must unlock as you play and level up, others you can purchase with your in-game currency. However, you can buy any ball at any time with Gold Pins. Each ball have stats of their strengths and weaknesses showing the Power, Hook and Control. Each special ball recharges over time (minimum of 30 minutes), but you can buy a full recharge at any time with Gold Pins. You even get access to special power balls that can help you in a pinch, such as:
- Bomb ball – when you need a guaranteed strike, this one packs an explosive punch that will clear every pin just by hitting one pin.
- Inflataball – expands many times its original size and sure to derail pins in its vicinity.
- Lightning ball – electrifies and lights up any pin in its path.
- Split ball – can surely come handy when you’re faced with a 7-10 split, it splits into two balls when you tap it (be sure to tap at the right moment!)
PBA Bowling Challenge Menu System
Balls are unavailable for use until you reach the right LVL (level) and purchase them with Tickets. Entering tournament cost Energy (represented by Lightning bolt) which recharges over time. Therefore the game encourages you to pick up and play periodically rather than constantly- which can be a negative for some. Level up to automatically replenish Energy or use Gold Pins to get more any time. Gold Pins can be purchased with real cash, ranging from $0.99-$49.99. If you don’t want to fork over real cash and are willing, then you can earn free Gold Pins by downloading other apps promoted by the gaming system.
You can compete against famed PBA bowlers, though virtually not and actually, so you’re not waiting on taking turns (you get the scores of other bowlers and your placement after the tourney round).
Controls are simple, you position your ball left/right on the lane, flick upward in the direction you want to bowl (your flick intensity is factored as well, so flick hard!), and tilt in the direction of your hook (if you choose a ball with a mean hook it will show). Lastly, you must factor in the lane oil slick as this can affect your spin and direction.

Fun Factor:
PBA Bowling Challenge is quite fun and challenging as you unlock top PB bowlers and advance in the tournaments in Career mode. The only caveat I foresee is that it can become repetitive thus reducing the longevity of the title.
Addictive:
The game is designed to keep you coming back for more, as you cannot simply play for lengthy periods as your Energy would likely run out (unless you fork over real cash).
Graphics:
The lanes, balls, realistic rolls & spins are on point. The graphics alone make this game worth downloading and probably the best among bowling games in Google Play!
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound effects create the atmosphere of a real bowling lanes complete with pins clashing, balls mowing lanes, shoes squeaking, etc. plus it has this rocking tune on repeat between menus. PBA Bowling Challenge does feature the tilt control accelerometer apart of the gaming controls, which is mostly determined by the hook of the chosen ball… so don’t be like me and tilt your phone or tablet more than 90 degrees thinking that will help the curve… it won’t.
