Features:
Paper War for 2 Players is a fun little two player game in the style of 2 Player Reactor. The game has three different modes: Anti-Aircraft, Plane Smasher, and Cannon Battle. In each of these modes two players are put to the test in a simple yet fun to play touch screen mini game. Each game requires a quick reaction time and a little bit of luck!
In the Anti-Aircraft mode each player is pitted against the other in a turret operated shooting contest. They are each given one cannon and a series of planes will fly by on the screen. Your job as the player is to shoot down your opponent’s planes, but to avoid shooting your own. In order to shoot you rotate the cannon with your finger then tap on it in order to fire a shot. If you shoot down one of your own plane’s your cannon will become stunned and you will be unable to fire for a few seconds. For each of your opponent’s planes you shoot down you receive points and the game ends when the timer runs out.
In Plane Smasher mode all you need to do is smash your opponent’s planes by hitting them with your finger. Planes from both teams will fly across the screen and your only job is to hit the planes that are the same color as your opponent’s team. If you accidently hit one of your own planes it does not stun you, unlike in Anti-Aircraft mode, instead it gives the points for the kill to your opponent. I liked this mode the best because the controls were a little bit touchy in Anti-Aircraft mode, and in Plane Smasher mode all you had to do was tap on your opponent’s planes. It seemed the most like 2 Player Reactor.
In Cannon Battle you each control one cannon and try to launch rocket’s at your opponent’s cannon over a obstacle. This mode is easier to control then Anti-Aircraft mode. I felt like the controls worked better and it was easier to aim with less targets. Occasionally parachutes will drop down and you can shoot them down for extra points.
You can also tweak the options for Paper War for 2 Players to meet your individual play style. You can invert the controls for either player in all of the mini games. You can also change the target score for each of the games as well, allowing you to play the game for a longer period of time without having a winner declared as quickly.

Paper War for 2 Players Options
Fun Factor:
Paper War for 2 Players is quite enjoyable to play when you want to kill some time at work with a friend. I especially like the Plane Smasher mode because the controls were easier to operate and it played out much smoother then the other 2 modes. I found that in Anti-Aircraft mode the controls were somewhat choppy and the process to fire a missile took much more work then it should have. This resulted in me firing much later then planned and often times shooting down my own planes. In Cannon Battle the controls were much easier to use, but the gameplay was less exciting. Despite their faults all of the mini games were fun to play with another person, and as a whole I enjoyed playing it immensely!
Addictive:
Paper War for 2 Players is very addictive. The first time I played this with my girlfriend she made me replay each mini game several times until she could beat me. The sound effects are cute and add to the fun feel of the game. I would love to see more mini games added in the future or a mode which involved more then one game. This would increase the player’s average play time and add to the addictiveness of this game quite a bit.
Graphics:
The graphics for Paper War for 2 Players were great. They were exactly what I would have expected from a game of this style, perhaps even better than expected. The style of the artwork contributed greatly to the feel of the game, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the way the game was displayed.
Another awesome thing about this game is that it formats perfectly on every device. I tested it on my HTC Thunderbolt, Galaxy Tablet, and Motorola Xoom and on each device it performed flawlessly. This is one of those special types of games that increases it’s play value with a bigger screen instead of decreasing it.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The game makes no use of the accelerometer or vibration. Accelerometer controls or adjustments could not really fit in with the play style, but I think vibration would be a welcome feature to this game. It would make the game more enjoyable to feel vibrations when you destroy your opponent’s aircraft or when you stun yourself during the Anti-Aircraft game. Hopefully that is something the developer will add in the future.
The sound effects for the game were excellent. They were simple and cartoon sounding, which adds to the feel of the game and contributes to the atmosphere that the artwork is meant to inspire. Music is a possible addition for future implementations of this application, but it would have to be just right in order to contribute to the feel of the game without taking away from it’s existing atmosphere.
