OnSports is an interactive and community driven sports app featuring polls, news, videos, scores, discussion and pictures. It covers most major sports including basketball, American football, ice hockey, soccer, NASCAR and baseball. The app is very well developed and polished making it fun to explore and use. If sports are a big thing in your life, this is ideal.

Features:
OnSports is a brilliant one-stop-shop for all your sports needs. The app covers practically all top sports from soccer to NASCAR. The stand out feature for me was the user interface. It’s an app you want to be seen using, it’s that good. At the top of the screen you get a drop down menu that shows the different sports to pick from, plus a catch all ‘All Sports’ section if you have multiple interests. You can currently choose from: NBA, March Madness, EPL, FA Cup 2012, NHL, MLB, NFL, Tennis and NASCAR. Tap any of these sports for a list of specific content.
Then you get three scrollable columns: Scores, Recent and News. Scores will give you a swift run down of up coming fixtures, recent games/matches and their respected scorelines. Attached to any of these you can add comments and have your say via polls. What’s great about this is how much it brings each game alive. There seems to be plenty of banter and interaction amongst fans, although the most popular teams are very well represented (there are seemingly myriads of Laker’s fans…).
Recent is a huge list of polls and discussions. So, right now under NFL it asks: Has Eli Manning proven himself to be an elite POSTSEASON quarterback yet? Who has the number one defense in the NFL? Linsanity or Tebowmania? …plus loads more. If you have an opinion, get involved! You can vote and have your say in the discussion!
News is a slick list of headlines and introductions to the hottest news stories and blogs. These are sadly not aggregated into the app itself, but you can read the intro and follow the link through your browser to the full article. Like the story? The app gives you the option to ‘Cheer’ and add comments. Once signed in you can create your own polls, add comments, respond to discussions, cheer and share as much as you like. You can also save your favourite articles for reading later- perhaps to see how a poll ended or follow a particular discussion.
The interactivity in the app is superb and there are always lots of users, especially for the major U.S. sports. It’s an app that features regularly updated content, bulletins and news stories more or less as they happen. There are video links, photographs and the access to some of the best sports journalism all within one handy app. I thought the app was a brilliant product that demonstrates how a good community app can be built. It’s a shame you have to use your browser for reading the news articles, but that aside, the app is pretty much a faultless resource for sports-related news and discussion.

Usefulness:
For keeping your finger on the beating pulse of sports (even I’m starting to sound like a sports newscaster now) this is ideal. You can follow scores, check out the latest opinion polls and discussions, check out upcoming fixtures and teams- even specify which teams you follow. You can log in via your Facebook or Twitter accounts and share your thoughts however you like. I’ve tested quite a few sports apps, even interactive ones like this, and none come close to the thriving community you get with OnSports.
Ease of Use:
The interface is so well designed and thought-out, it’s a joy to use and very simple. Everything is easy to navigate and the settings are very straightforward.
Frequently Used:
The more you enjoy sports, the more you’ll use the app, it’s that simple. Because you can specify which sports you want in the top menu, you don’t have to trawl through NHL headlines if you’re not interested in hockey, just pick the sport you want and all the content is just there for you to peruse.
Interface:
Slick, slick slick. It’s like your own interactive dashboard of sports news and comments. You know when you watch big time news reports, NFL coverage and the like with slick animations and visuals? It’s like being inside of that!
