Cons
Before I go into the the app, let me explain a little about ITA which makes the application so great. ITA Software is one of the travel industry’s best in providing all types of solutions, including airfare data. Fast Company named ITA Software one of the Ten Most Innovative Companies In The Travel Industry. Their customers include TripAdvisor, American Airlines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and more as reported on their website. ITA Software developed QPX, which is a management utility for pricing and shopping airfare. Now, let’s just imagine for a second what that does for an app that utilizes this technology to provide airfare information at your fingertips on your Android.
Using QPX technology natively is what makes this app great. You get direct information about your flight including booking codes, emissions information, length of flights, multi-airline trips, and even the breakdown of what your airfare pays for. It doesn’t get much better than this. We all know that other applications such as Kayak and TripAdvisor exist already in the market but remember they rely on the data that ITA gives them using QPX.
Using this app is pretty simple. Pick your origin airport (it automatically provides the nearest airport to you) and your destination airport. Choose the outbound and inbound dates including whether to put the day before or after in your search results. Select how many passengers you have. There are additional selections to make including to allow multi-airline flights, change of dates, seating class, etc. After that your given with a matrix of airlines and prices. The most economical choice is highlighted for you. Once you select a flight your provided with an itinerary that you can email to the receipient of your choice. You can see all the details including what flights you will use, airfare breakdowns, mileage per leg and (surprisingly) emissions usage per leg of your flight. Wow. This app was well made. Ready to book your flight? Press the “how to book” button and OnTheFly will provide you with step-by-step directions on how to make sure you get the flight your currently looking at including booking codes.
Usually I wouldn’t provide so many screenshots but I feel it’s appropriate to explain how much information each screen of the app provides to the consumer. See the gallery below for more details.

Should you Download OnTheFly? ABSOLUTELY. The only immediate downfall of this app is the ability to book within the app. Even with that small setback, definitely worth the download.

I think your CONS are erroneous, the app never stated if could book flights, it however gives you the number to the airline to book, no need to go to a website to look around. Hotel bookings I have personally never bothered with, the idea is to find a cheap flight, couple that with a hotel and the prices will go up, better to find a cheap hotel by yourself. if you fly to the same location I bet most people already have a favorite hotel.
Actually, in my review I never stated that the app said it would book flights. I simply stated that it was a small disappointment that it didn’t have that sort of service however it does give you all the codes you need to book the flight.
