Office Jerk. It’s arrived, the biggest time waster of 2011. Mindless violence, endless fun! Working in an office sure can be boring, and it doesn’t help when some do-good know-it-all sits across from you all day. You know the type: he runs to the boss when you do something wrong, complains when you get the last bag of chips in the snack room or always has a better idea than you. No longer will you sit back and take it! Grab whatever you have nearby – a crumpled piece of paper, a gooey chocolate cupcake, a golf ball, a mug, a shiny red stapler or crack open the ACME pack for even more loads of endless fun – and wipe that smirk off his face in the feel-good app of the year, from Fluik Entertainment and Big Fat Simulations.

Cons
Office Jerk is an excellent Android game where you get to act out all of your office fantasies in a simulation game; that’s right you get to assault that annoying co-worker next to you with everything you can find! It features a large arsenal of weaponry including pencils, eraser, cupcakes, eggs, the office fan, golf balls, paper wads, and etc. You can attack the coworker directly or try to bring down his morale by throwing these objects at photos of his kid, his employee of the year award, or other various co-worker objects throughout the office. Office Jerk also features an online leader board system through Papaya Mobile to track your score and compare it against others.
The object of the game is simple… hit your annoying co-worker with as many objects as you can as many times in a row as possible. There are a plethora of objects which can be used as projectiles to assault the annoying co-worker and each of these objects has their own animations. Some of the objects are typically found in an office such as the eraser, the pencil, the fan, the cupcake, the stapler, and the golf ball. Other objects are not so common such as the pie, the dynamite, the egg, the dart, and the squid. When you throw the the pencil you can get it stuck in the co-worker’s nose (Not the eye,)
when you throw the dynamite it explodes, and when you throw the egg it breaks wherever it hits.
Some of the objects can only be unlocked by playing the game for a certain amount of time or by experimenting with your environment. For example the score keeping daily calendar can be thrown if the player selects the object and chooses the option to throw it. Without trying to interact with these various office objects you would never know that you can throw them. The squid can only be unlocked after catching him 25 times in the office; which rewards people who play the game more often.
One thing I noticed when playing the new version of Office Jerk is that the developers made some significant improvements to the game. Since the last time I had experimented with it they had incorporated achievements as well as online leader boards in to the game; this is all done through Papaya Mobile Online. Papaya Mobile is essentially a similar application to OpenFeint. It allows you to keep track of your achievements within various games that integrate the social achievement system and to compete with other players through online leader boards. One significant difference between Papaya Mobile and OpenFeint is that it allows you to interact with other players through online chat rooms and the Papaya Mobile Social Networking system. I was extremely pleased with the way the application worked and found that it was very easy to set up a login their network and to use.
I found Office Jerk to be an enjoyable game to play. The new online leader board system along with in-game achievements did a lot to improve the way that the game plays and to increase the addictive values. One addition I would like to see in future versions of the game is more objects that can be targeted in the office to give extra points. Such as pictures of the “Office Jerk” or his “I Love My Boss” coffee mug. These objects are just as fun to destroy as your co-worker and provide more of a challenge than hitting a human being.
I found Office Jerk to be a fairly addicting time waster. I can imagine this being even more addictive in an office environment because you could easily waste an hour playing this casual game and pretending you were throwing these objects at the person in the cubicle next to you.
I found that the Papaya Mobile integration added much more to the addictive factor of the game than in previous versions. My only request for change would be for more objects and people to throw at.
The graphics in Office Jerk are excellent. The office environment is realistic and extremely detailed which is surprising for a game with such a simple premise and restricted environment. I also thoroughly enjoyed the animations that were included. One of the most amusing things in the game was watching the Office Jerk taunt you when you missed him with your wads of paper, or turn around and give the hand gesture for “I’ve got my eyes on you.” Obviously the developers took a lot of time paying strict detail to the game environment and trying to make it play more enjoyable.
There is no use of either the device’s accelerometer or its capabilities for haptic feedback, but neither of these exclusions detracted from the enjoyment of the game. Instead the developers compensated for this with excellent office sound effects strewn throughout. While playing Office Jerk you can hear all of the ambient sounds of a real office. These include phones ringing, fax machines, distant murmuring, and original sound effects for each projectile thrown at your co-worker. I was pleased with all of the sound effects for this game.

Should you Download Office Jerk? Yes! Office Jerk is an enjoyable casual game which allows to assault that co-worker you always disliked with all of the objects you can find around the office. The game is amusing, the sound effects are very realistic, there are many different projectiles to use and unlock, and many in-game achievements through Papaya Mobile. The only thing I would like to see changed in this game is the amount of targets you can throw. With more amusing objects to throw things at the “Office Jerk”, it’s is the most amusing casual time waster to play at the office!
