Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Incredible 3D Virtual Piloting game for Android!
  • Amazing 3D graphics!
  • Excellent and responsive adjustable accelerometer controls!
  • 5 different zones and 3 different difficulty levels!
  • Honeycomb support!

Cons

  • No musical soundtrack!
  • No points system, Open Feint Support, or achievements beyond normal Bronze, Silver, and Gold rankings.

Features:

My Paper Plane 2 is an excellent 3D action game for Android. In the game you play as a paper plane flying through various obstacle courses, grabbing stars and dodging trees and buildings.

My Paper Plane 2 features a tutorial course which allows you to become accustomed to the game controls and learn the basics of the game. In order to control the paper plane you use the accelerometer on your device. By tilting the phone or tablet up and down or side to side you are able to steer the plane. I was very impressed with the responsiveness of the controls for this game. They responded instantly to my adjustments and give you a great feeling of control over the game environment.

The basic object of each level is to collect all of the stars within a level. If you do not collect enough stars you will fail the level and if you collect all of the stars you will pass with a gold medal. Silver and Bronze stars are also offered for lower star attainment.

There are 4 different maps and different levels of course difficulty for each map. The four maps are Canyon Town, Laguna Run, Evening City, and Neon Speedracer. Each map has a different theme and therefore different obstacles. As you play through each map on a higher difficulty the number of obstacles is increased to create more challenging gameplay.

I played through Canyon Town and found the majority of obstacles to be western style buildings and trees. Many of the stars that needed to be collected were located within floating rings to make obtaining them more difficult. If you accidentally touch the side of the ring your plane crashes and you have to retry the level.

Fun Factor:

My Paper Plane 2 is extremely fun to play. The game designer’s do an excellent job making you feel like you are a paper airplane floating through the large and dangerous world. The controls are excellent and make you feel totally in control of your craft which also increases the game’s enjoyment factor.

Addictive:

Playing through the game is extremely addictive though the replay value after beating the game is minimal. The game is extremely fast paced and is challenging which creates the initial addiction to the game. When you beat a level you receive a gold, silver, or bronze medal. Which means if you don’t receive a Gold the first time you will probably want to go back in and try again.

This game has no mechanic for a scoring system other than the Medals. As a result, after you have beaten the game you are completely left without further challenges. There is no way to earn scores with a point value, so there is no reason to replay a level after earning a gold. I am assuming this is also the reason there is no Open Feint support. The lack of a point’s system and Open Feint significantly impacts the replay value of this game.

Graphics:

The graphics for my paper plane are excellent. The models are not of the highest quality I have seen, but the frame rate is incredible. The images in the game are designed to give just enough texturing to provide the game with a high definition interface while providing for a faster rendering environment. This design makes for an excellent gaming experience and is extremely impressive to see and use.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

The accelerometer controls for this game are excellent. They are extremely responsive which is due to an excellent utilization of the device’s accelerometer and the extremely skillful interface designed for the game. In the bottom right hand corner while playing the game there is the option to reset the game controls. This allows you to invert the accelerometer controls and play in typical pilot style.

The game has excellent sound effects which highlight the console style interface of the game. When you first launch your plane at the beginning of each level you hear the sound of the wind passing by the paper airplane, and various sound effects are played as you collect stars or collide with obstacles. Unfortunately there is no music track, which detracts slightly from the enjoyment of the game.

There is no use of vibration in the game, but none was needed.

Should you Download My Paper Plane 2 (3D)? Yes, My Paper Plane 2 is an excellent virtual piloting game for Android. It has excellent graphics, challenging gameplay, and unique 3D environments. My only big regret with this game is it’s lack of Open Feint support or extra achievements. Download the demo and try it out, if you enjoy it as much as I do then pay the $1.99 while it is still on sale for the full game!
