Motorola’s first Push to Talk Android phone the Motorola i1 has a carrier home with SouthernLINC Wireless. We announced the phone at CTIA 2010, and now it is available for purchase.
The sleek, tablet-style Motorola i1 combines the convenience of PTT two-way radio with a premium browsing and messaging experience. Motorola i1 comes preloaded with the Opera Mini 5 Browser for optimized mobile Web browsing, Android WebKit Browser with Adobe® Flash® Lite® for access to content created with Adobe Flash and multiple keyboard options, including Swype™, for quick and efficient messaging.
The phone is rugged and has hardware optimizations for in the field and outdoor environments like durable, rubber housing and sturdy, state-of-the-art Gorilla® glass that safeguards the 3.1-inch touch screen from shocks and other damage. The Motorola i1 is Military Spec 810F certified for blowing rain, dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, low pressure, salt fog, humidity and solar radiation.
We are confirming the version of Android it ships with, hopefully not 1.5 as Motorola has been consistently shipping new phones with outdated Android software. It has access to more the 50,000+ Android Apps, 5 megapixel camera, 2GB included SD card expandable to 32GB, and priced at $199.99.
