Although the launch was muted by Verizon’s DROID also made by Motorola, this phone proves to be a fine Android device. Do you have a Motorola Cliq? Share your thoughts below in the Comments:

This is “officially” my first smart phone, but I am familiar with many different phones and OSs. It is completely awesome and MOTOBLUR is more useful than I thought it would be. Even before I got the phone I started to research rooting it so I could get Android 2.0 installed immediately and not be stuck behind Moto’s regime. After getting it and playing with it, I am very happy with the way it comes out of the box. Of course I have downloaded my share of extra apps since some of the stock apps don’t do it for me, but for the most part, it is sufficient straight up. I have only had a few instances of the phone slowing down (I had 5 apps downloading at the same time), and some glitchy movements. For the most part, I don’t have to wait for very much to happen after I “click” on something. The battery is really weak, but hopefully Moto will release a better battery sometime soon. I spent the first 5 hours of my day reading RSS feeds, browsing the internet, and updaing various social networking sites – then I had to charge it. Overall, I’m completely satisfied and happy with this phone!

Have you been able to root it and install 2.0? If so, can you point me in the right direction? I’m thinking of getting one, but I really like being able to tweak my phones. :)

      Hello tobidashi,
I have the Motorola Cliq also, and I love my phone. One question, have installed 2.0 yet? If so could you please share how you were able to do that?
      Thanks.

This is my phone and as far as I’m concerned I couldn’t have wanted more. I wanted the iPhone, as I am familiar with it and all its features but of course the iPhone has that infamous price tag attached which my dad rightfully refused to pay. So I picked this phone and after 4 hours of usage I couldn’t see anything better about the iPhone. All of my favourite features on the iPhone are on this phone like mobile uploads on Facebook, visual voicemail and Facebook chat (on Meebo). You can lay out the home screens in exactly the same way and this has a physical keyboard, along with an on-screen keyboard which you can use if you want. I’m from the UK, so here we call this phone the DEXT, not the CLIQ and here the exclusivity is owned by Orange. I love my phone and I would recommend it to anyone.
