More Than Half of Android Devices Running Gingerbread, Android Tablet Market Share Still Low

As many Droid-pundits drool for latest Android 4.0 mobile operating system code-named (Ice Cream Sandwich) it currently only exists on one phone, the Galaxy Nexus. Hence why it is a non-factor in the latest statistics released by Google showing the market share of the various mobile OS versions around the globe. The trend I have been keen to is, in time, most Android devices tend to either get OS updates that are more feature-rich or debut that way. Now more than half of Android devices are Android 2.3.x (Gingerbread) at 50.6% respectively.
I put on my analysis hat a few month’s back demonstrating Android tablets market share rather low in comparison to the slew of available devices; fast-forward and I can maintain the same prediction as the Android tablet specific version (Honeycomb) accounts for only 2.4%. The latter stat even includes Google TV set-tops and connected televisions which recently got an update. Post holiday season do we think tablet sales will spike?
