Maniana is smart, customisable ‘to do’ app. It lets you list and prioritize all your jobs and chores in a great interface, plus have these on your homescreen with a variety of widgets. I’ve tested all kinds of ‘to do’ list apps, and for the already initiated, this lies nicely in between the likes of Any.Do and Do It Tomorrow… read on for more details.
Price: Free
Tested on: HTC One X
Content Rating: Everyone
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Ability to sort and prioritize to do lists!
- Nice UI!
- Easy to use!
- Great selection of widgets!
- Lots of themes!
Cons
- No online sync.
- Not for people who need great levels of organisation and more detail.
Features:
Maniana is a simple, yet cool, to do list app. Simply add jobs to you you list, tap them to complete. You can add red, blue and green levels of priority and, if you don’t get it done that day, simply tap the arrow to pass onto tomorrows list. In this way it’s a little like Do It Tomorrow. Conceptually though, the word ‘maniana’ is meant to mean ‘an indefinite time in the future’ so, just put that task off for when you’re ready to do it!
The app is also themeable. The main app view offers 4 different themes: On Paper, Yellow Pages, Dark Knight and Notebook. Additionally, the widgets also have 5 themes; Paper Trail, Crystal Blue, Think Big, Legally Blonde and Fine Print. It is a little confusing as to why there are different themes for the main app and the widgets, I rather thought the Dark Knight theme was really nice and would have complimented my homescreen better than those available just for the widgets.
Speaking of widgets you have a brilliant selection; 1×1, 2×2, 3×3, 4×2 and 4×4. While the size can’t be adjusted on these, it’s great to see a nice range of choice. While similar in many ways to Do It Tomorrow, Maniana- with themes and the ability to prioritize- is slightly more functional, although it doesn’t offer the online interface/syncing. This, however, is perhaps not too big of a deal if you just want a basic to-do list.
As mention in the introduction, I saw Maniana falling somewhere in between Any.Do and Do It Tomorrow. If you need a tad more functionality than Do It Tomorrow, but Any.Do offers too many options, Maniana is a nice alternative to try out. It’s free, works well and, if you find a theme which you like, looks good too.

Usefulness:
For keeping on top of your tasks and improving your productivity, a handy to-do app is just the ticket to blend technology with everyday chores. With Maniana you get a minimal level of functionality that will suit basic jobs; washing the car, walking the dog, finishing a report, etc. It also lets you prioritize, in addition to flinging tasks to the following day or beyond. The extensive range of themes and widgets let you place these tasks on your homescreen.
Ease of Use:
Very, very easy to use. Simply type things in, tap to complete or prioritize and so on. If you’ve used to-do apps before it should be second nature. If you’re a complete noob, there’s a nice tutorial when you first start the app.
Frequently Used:
If you like getting things done, you’ll be using this app all the time!
Interface:
The interface is quite simple, but nicely designed all the same. I still prefer Any.Do as my favourite to-do app, but if you fancy something different with various themes, Maniana is a great alternative.
