Majesty: Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a tycoon, role play game and sim game all rolled into one. At the beginning of the game you learn the King has died and you are now in charge of the kingdom. Throughout the game you must complete difficult tasks like what to do when the gold turns to cookies and how to stop the trolls. However, that is not all you must also defeat monsters like harpys, vampires, zombies and more while making sure your kingdom is still running well within the economy.
Features:
Majesty: Fantasy Kingdom Sim really caught me by surprise. From the title and the screenshots you mostly expect a fantasy-themed tycoon style game where you have to build a castle, village, marketplace, etc. However, it was great to see that while there is partly true, it’s far from being everything to the game. Because, beneath the exterior, the gameplay reminded me of classic military strategy-type titles like Command & Conquer.
For example, you initially get set the mission of ridding an area of evil rat creatures. To defeat them you have to build a Warrior guild to create new warriors (they look much like knights) in addition to a Ranger guild who clear dark areas of the map (very similar to Command & Conquer). You can supplement your forces by creating a blacksmith to improve weaponry, etc. Additionally, you can build guard towers and other building that help your campaign. As you progress through the 16 initial missions, resources and abilities expand and you can add many more heroes to the mix. You can also expect magic, a wide variety of unique upgradeable buildings to create, over 100 achievements to unlock and an additional skirmish mode for a freer style of battling.
Another interesting feature in this game are the problems you may encounter and have to deal with. Some of these include what to do when all the gold transforms into cookies? Or how will you bring back the trolls who robbed caravans and whose disappearance ruins the economy of the country? Those are just examples of what you may face during your rein as King.
There are several different citizens in your kingdom from tax collectors to wizards to warriors along with the many different monsters that you will meet along the way. Keep your kingdom safe while helping it prosper is one of the main goals of the game. As you move further along you will earn different achievements.
What struck me was the fact that, despite the complexity, the game works very well indeed. There is lots of tutorial to start with and this helps you get to grips with the game well. I did find the controls a little unintuitive at first, but with prolonged play it gets easier. There are 3 different difficulty settings, named: Pacifist (Easy), Peacemaker (Normal) and Bloodthirsty (Hard), so you can make things harder if you require more of a challenge.
On top of Majesty: Fantasy Kingdom Sim you can buy an additional expansion pack, called Majesty: Northern Expansion. This pledges to develop the game further by introducing a whole new region to explore and mighty dragons to fight!
Majesty: Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a breath of fresh air and incredibly fun to play. One thing, however, would be that its not is particularly casual. It can take some time to wipe out a horde of native goblins, don’t expect a quick 5 minute session here and there. You can save your game and go back to it, but it’s incredibly compelling and not easy to put down!

Fun Factor:
Majesty… is loads of fun. There are lots of tough missions and a host of different enemies to defeat. It’s not too difficult to play and the range of items contained in the game; enemies, buildings, missions, heroes and magic spells make the game pretty much as diverse and enjoyable as you can get on the Android platform.
Addictive:
It’s massively addictive, really hard to put down. Like the classic PC strategy titles, it has that “just one more mission” factor that makes it incredibly difficult to leave. Add to this the various skirmish modes and achievements to unlock and this could be something that occupies you for many many weeks, if not months.
Graphics:
Looks a little like a tycoon game or an RPG when in fact it’s really neither. The game lets you take screen shots which, up close is pretty detailed and well developed. In fact, some of the in-game shots above were made via the screen shot tool.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The music is superb, really atmospheric, although I’m unsure if you’d keep it playing all the time. To supplement this there are plenty of battle noises too, all of which sound great and really work well with the look and feel of the game.
