Pros
Cons
If you’re getting tired with your lifeless and simplistic lockscreen, you might consider entering the Android Market to seek another. There are quite a few options out there, but one of the most recent is the highly functional Lucent Lock Screen.
Lucent Lock Screen combines a really good look with stacks of functionality. From your still-locked screen you can view weather, text messages, music controls, networks controls and sound management. You can select which of these is your default, which is nice feature.
Below the weather (or music controls, etc.) is the unlocker. Reminiscent of the circular ‘ring’ style lockscreens familiar to us who have fawned over ICS and not wholly unlike the MIUI lockscreen, it’s a plush yet simple way to unlock your device and looks far better than a simple slider. This lets you directly access your homescreen, text messages, camera or music straight from your lockscreen. Pretty cool functionality. The ‘look’ I should add is in a sleek black and white that’s not entirely removed from Android Market success story (and recent AndroidTapp App of the Week) Any.DO.
The functionality is truly superb and includes such a variety too. However I found the app to have very occasional stability issues; for example it didn’t always kick-in after a reboot. If like me you have either a HTC or Motorola device, you need to download No Lock from the Market for Lucent Lock Screen to work properly. if you don’t, you seem to have to unlock the device twice (even if you disable the native locker). Additionally there’s a small graphical inconsistency. With the weather for example, the very bottom of the temperatures are missing, and on the music, the underside of the volume slider is missing. Check out the pictures below to see what I mean. These are small things, and subsequently probably simple to rectify, so they shouldn’t really put you off too much.
It gives a stack more functionality if you’re only using a typical slider lockscreen. It is comparable to a few other lockscreens in the Market, but it offers a slick UI and nice looks that you might favour.
Lucent Lock Screen is incredibly easy to configure. One setting in particular didn’t seem to work however; if you switched to 24hr clock, it seemed to remain on 12hr clock for me. This aside, it’s easy to set up and very simple to use.
You would obviously use this very regularly; every time you use your phone.
The interface is one of the strong plus points here. Not only does it look good, it’s also massively functional and informative.

Should you Download Lucent Lock Screen? If you’re looking for a lockscreen replacement, you should most certainly check out Lucent Lock Screen. It combines bold looks with oodles of functionality. There a couple of minor issues with the app, but these might easily be rectified in an update. Obviously it’s a paid-for app, but it’s definitely worth a look if you want to sweeten up your dull existing lockscreen.

Funky thing that made me uninstall — when I’d hit the power button to wake the phone up, it would open briefly to my home screen, then go to the “lock” screen.
Makes me mad — I got a refund. Later,I wondered if the problem had been my Security settings. Re-downloaded, experimented for a minute or two. Same problem, only now no refund allowed!
