LogMeIn debuts their Android version of remote connection client called LogMeIn Ignition for Android! Traditionally, LogMeIn allows multiple users to connect to PCs and Macs over the Internet to conduct meetings, trainings, support and much more… now that they have launched Ignition on iPhone; Android has followed.

Features:

  • One-click remote access without a browser
  • Controls and access files and application on remote computers
  • Send and manage online collaborations
  • In reverse, IT professionals can configure you iPhone or Android phone from a desktop to configure Exchange email for example.

Additional information about LogMeIn Ignition for Android is available at www.LogMeIn.com/Android. We’ll have a full Android App Review when we receive our advance copy!  ;-)

I just went to the site… looks like they haven’t launched anything. Very misleading. “Coming soon” and “launched” mean two different things.

  2. Chris says:

It just goes to a login page for me. Anyone know when it will actually be available?

  3. Android says:

yeah, big fail here, thanks for getting my hopes up and then breaking them like Gallagher does a watermelon.

  4. kschzhd says:

this is pretty ridiculous. searching through LMI’s forums and asking their support/sales staff for any idea on when this will be available gets you nowhere also, fyi. problem is that there isn’t something else available for android without cost and has the feature set that LMI has. otherwise i’d boycott.

tried it, yeah. works if you have a vpn and you know the ip of your pc – that’s if you don’t have a dedicated ip to your pc. for a home pc, no idea how to get this app to work. also, doesn’t give you an interface with all the machines you want to connect to, and isn’t consistent. loses connection too often, even if droid is on wifi.

  1. [...] Although iPhone users are already getting a taste of LogMeIn’s remote connection client, Android users aren’t too far off from experiencing the same thing. For those who have never used it, LogMeIn allows multiple users to connect to various computers over the internet to conduct meetings, trainings, support, and more. LogMeIn Ignition for Android will provide the same services with one-click access without a browser, the ability to access files & applications on remote computers, send & manage online collaborations, and IT professionals will be able to configure phones from a desktop to configure Exchange email. It really providers the user the power constantly stay in touch with work without having to worry about forgetting something on their computer – which can even make working from home a possibility for some. There is no word yet on when it’s expected to be available, but you can sign up to receive email updates if you’re really intent on potentially using it. source: LogMeIn via Android Tapp [...]
