Pros
Cons
Locale Android App offers a convenient and smart way to manage phone settings. You can do things like automatically change screen brightness, ringtone volume, backgrounds, etc. These settings are defined as Situations, you determine the Condition (choose from Battery, Contact, Location, Orientation, Time) for which Settings (Bluetooth, Brightness, Ringtone, Screen Timeout, Volume, Wallpaper, or Wi-Fi) you would like. Add, remove or change as many situations as you like.
Gripe alert: adding a location could be a bit easier plus it tends to be inaccurate especially stressful since the app uses Google Maps. This app used to be free but now priced at $10 bucks, so we recommend trying for 24 hours to evaluate its features.

Great use case; change your phone’s background, lower or mute your ringtone volume, and turn on Wi-Fi when you are at work as the app knows when you arrive to work and during which time periods you are typically at work as you can configure these settings.

Actually Locale of one of those apps that you set and forget about, the real noticed benefit is when you move to a new Android phone and realize all your cool automated actions are gone. Its uses are really based on your need and situations you set.
The user interface is clean and the recent version is much more intuitive than its debut. However poking around the various menus yield the best way to learn how to use the app.

Should you Download Locale? Yes! A Bit Pricey but Its Features are Worth It!
You might want to update this review. The beta is still free, but the full version is $10. Also it has a plug-in system, some free, some not. That said $10 isn’t much for not getting in trouble at work
What are you talking about, your comment is not relevant to the review, sure you commented on the right review?
I’m quite sure. I’m using version 1.0, you guy’s reviewed 0.36 beta. I searched your site and this was the only review for Locale. I think this one is worth a second look. Like I said the beta is still in the market. But 1.0 costs $10 and some of the plugins cost money too.
The beta is now longer in the Marketplace and the dev’s institued a forced upgrade of the beta without warning.
This has pissed off many users. It’s overpriced and in some cases the beta upgrade locks your phone in the last state the beta version was in before the forced upgrade. In my case I was locked out of all mobile data sessions. The devs were unhelpful and unapologetic. I ended up having to perform a factory reset on the device.
For MIT students they aren’t very smart.
This review is outdated as there are a few really cool plugins for this app. Ive got Astrid installed so when I get to an area that is setup in local it will remind me that I have a task to do at that location. It also has a GPS plugin that starts or stops gps based on your location. Also the WiFi function keeps crashing my wireless. Other then that this is my fav app. Review should update and list plugins for this app as it gives it so many more features.
First off, let me say that this app is the single most useful app in the Market. It is amazing to not have to change anything on my Droid. That being said….
when the Free version went Beta, it mysteriously stopped working as well as it had in the past. It’s my favorite app on my phone, but I’m very disappointed that they are charging $10 for it now. Almost seems like the devs decided to toss a bug or two in there to get you to upgrade to the full version. That being said, I’ve almost talked myself in to buying the app for $10 and being upset over the charge until I can’t see it on my bank statement anymore. It’s too useful to forget about, but I’m still a little miffed over the charge…
$10 is way too much for an app with no guarantees of real support.
Review is no longer accurate. The free beta was pulled. Timeriffic and Settings Profiles are being recommended as alternatives.
