Just in time for the new English Premier League football (soccer, if you’re based on the other side of the pond) season, developers FootballAddicts have released their superb app Live Score Addicts into the Google Play Store. Boasting regular updates, scores, teams, videos and more to some 400 hundred leagues around the world, the app has everything a modern football fan could possibly need.
Price: Free
Tested on: HTC One X
Content Rating: Everyone
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Hundreds of leagues and competitions to get scores!
- Impressive UI!
- Videos!
- Easy to use!
- Notifications!
Cons
- The addition of a widget would be brilliant.
- Only holds match info for a day.
Features:
Live Score Addicts aims to bring you all the match information; events, videos, line ups, statistics and live tables. It’s brimming with information about scorers, cards, goals, assists and substitutions. It updates regularly throughout a match to bring you the info as quickly as possible. If you can’t watch the game, this is the ideal companion app to have. Best of all is that it’s wrapped up in a lush and polished user interface that makes it a joy to play with (even if your team is losing!)
There are plenty of score apps out there and here at AndroidTapp we’ve reviewed quite a few. These include the likes of SofaScore, ESPN ScoreCentre and LiveScore and all of which are pretty good. However, if it’s purely soccer you’re interested in, Live Score Addicts is a new champion. I guess the app might be criticised for only concerning it self with football, but its focus actually makes for the prefect fan app, rather than being something that tries to please everyone. If soccer isn’t your thing, it might be worthwhile trying some of the other apps we’ve mentioned or others such as OnSports or SportsTap, which each covers a far wider variety of sports.
Live Score Addicts is very much about the info and, with videos, offers something other apps do not. The app utilises content from sites like DailyMotion to link up-to-date clips from various live sources. This means that, while some vids might be taken down in time, you might be able to catch a glimpse of that winning goal or incredible fingertip save, shortly after it’s taken place. Obviously the downside to this is that it’s inconsistent, but that’s more down to the sources than the app itself.
Aside from the great interface, the app is incredibly useful. You can select favourite competitions that will present you with all the scores from those leagues and tournaments. Furthermore you can specify favourite teams and configure the app so that you receive immediate notifications relating to game action, meaning you can always stay up to date, wherever you are. It’s clearly an app for football fans, built by football fans, meaning user experience is paramount. If you haven’t had chance to check it out yet, make sure you do!

Usefulness:
For keeping you on the ball with live scores and more, Live Score Addicts is a truly excellent application. It includes loads of information and features notifications to let you know when things happen. It lacks one thing- a widget- which would make it utterly superb, but the app has come from humble iOS origins where the freedoms we enjoy as Android users, such as widgets, are impossible anyway.
Ease of Use:
The app is very simple to use. The top corner menu helps you navigate from the early screens but, although it’s heavily themed, seems based more on Google’s ‘Holo’ principals. This means it’s an environment that has been specifically designed to be easy to interact with.
Frequently Used:
This will obviously depend on how often your team(s) play(s). Normally in the UK, this is rarely more than twice a week. However, it’s a good app to refer back to on any elements of a game that you happened to miss. One thing that diminishes your ability to do this more is the fact that the app only keeps links accessible for a day after the game. So, if a game is two days ago, you won’t be able to view it in the app, which is a real shame.
Interface:
The interface is great, really smooth, great animations and superbly designed. As apps that provide a lot of live information go, it’s perfect.
