Lithic is a brilliant and gorgeous-looking photo editor that turns your pictures into graphic-novel style images. While various photo-manipulation apps let you add all manner of filters, this one transforms your images completely. If you’re looking for something very different and very cool, Lythic is definitely worth a look.

Cons
Features:
Lythic gives your pictures an extremely fresh new look. Instead of just adding that dull 70′s style filter, or opting for a ‘Lomo’ effect every time… why not try something new? Lythic provides a deep effect which turns your snap into a cool graphic-novel style image. You can additionally edit and add text, creating your very own gallery of effected images which are viewable within the app itself.
Using the application is really simple. From the main menu select either Canvas or Gallery (if you’ve already created some images). Select Canvas to create a new image. Lythic comes with 8 different layouts to choose from, with either one or two images in each- a little like PicFrame to be honest. Once chosen you can add a picture (or pictures) to the frame. You can pinch to zoom in to make the picture fit and even adjust the rotation of the picture if you wish.
Then the fun stuff starts. Tap the apply filter tab to watch section by section, the picture convert into a powerful graphic-novel image. You can then adjust the brightness and harshness of the image on a slider. You can even apply the filter tab a number of times to create different effects. Then text can be added, which comes out in an old-school typewriter font and looks really good. You can also edit the size and thickness of the frame then save and/or share the picture. If any of these seems a little complicated you can invoke the help features which describes everything far clearer by pressing the ‘?’ tab.
Lythic is fun to use and the effects look excellent. If you perhaps want to create your own mini-comic, or even just jazz up your social network profile picture, it’s a great idea. Images look incredibly vibrant and very cool indeed. My only criticism might be that it really only adds this particular filter, there’s no other effects or even the opportunity to change the colour to something other than black on white. That said, the effects are stunning and well worth the money.
