Latest versions of Android currently only accounts for 22 percent installed, most still on older Gingerbread

In late 2010 Google released Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), yet most of the install base are still on this version, at 57.5 percent. One of the Android platform greatest Achilles’ heel is fragmentation due to rampant software releases too swift for manufacturers & carriers to keep up with. Just as more modern version, Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) started to gain traction at 20.9 percent, the latest version Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) was release and only accounts for 1.2 percent install base.
