Lapse It – Time Lapse Pro is a stunning photography application that has recently achieved over half a million downloads in the Google Play Store. Essentially the app lets you create professional level time-lapse and stop motion footage on your Android. The app features a gorgeous and easy to use interface and a host of superb customisation features.

There’s a spot I found (to the left of the screen) that is hidden when filming, but appears in playback, like a ‘blind-spot’.

Features:

Lapse It is a powerful yet incredibly easy to use time lapse and stop motion photography application that provides loads of functionality and is also rich in customisation. From the initial menu screen you can begin a new capture, view your gallery or view captures from other Lapse It users in a shared gallery. You can also adjust settings or view a YouTube video which goes over Lapse It basics.

Settings is a good place to start to set up your shoot. Frame interval and Time Scale are perhaps the most vital to creating the footage you are after so definitely explore these settings to help you define what it is you want to do. Also in Settings, you can adjust delay, resolution (up to 1080p full HD in the Pro version), brightness level, shutter sound, schedule (where you can set a start and end time), output folder and render settings (things like how many frames per second and video quality).

Once you have a video you’re proud of, you can edit it. In this menu you can add effects and filters, trim the video, change the render and add music to the footage… all on your phone or tablet. While I think some of these features are very advanced for an Android app it’s still very simple to use and actually fun to play around with. I shot a really simple stop motion movie with my daughter’s Hello Kitty toys and it worked really well. What struck me about it was how easy it was to use. Even though the features are quite complex at times, the app remains very straight forward to play around with.

I did find one small issue though and this seems to be a ‘blind spot’ which you might only be aware of after shooting. I noticed that the far left of the shot is hidden when filming but appears when you play it back. What this means is that you capture things to the left of the screen you are not expecting to- worth noting with your own captures.

Usefulness:

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a complete novice, I think you’ll be impressed with the functionality contained in Lapse It. You can not only shoot either time lapse or stop motion video but also edit post-shoot in a variety of ways. All this on a mobile device.

Ease of Use:

I was worried the app might be tough to use, such as the functionality. However, the layout and user interface is such that the app is easy to set up and shooting is very simple. All-in-all it’s something even older children could use with a little patience.

Frequently Used:

This will depend on the user of course, but the app offers plenty of options and functionality so it might be an app you look for excuses to use more!

Interface:

The interface not only looks great but has clearly been designed to make using the app very easy indeed. Lapse It definitely has a premium feel to it and the UI is excellent throughout.

Should you Download Lapse It – Time Lapse Pro? If you are into taking pictures on your Android device and perhaps want to try time lapse or stop motion photography without having to invest in top-end equipment, software and the like, this is a brilliant option. The Lite version has a few restrictions to it but definitely gives you a good idea what to expect. That said, at under $1 the Pro version is an absolute bargain.

I read the reviews and decided that this one might work on my HTC One S.
Paid for it, Auto download from Itunes, Installed it. Looked it over. Made some settings. 1 shot every second. Activated it (pretty user friendly) and did “stuff” for about 5 minutes as a test.
As far as I can tell, its worth every penny. I think this is exactly what I was looking for. good job guys.
