AndroidTapp.com Android Game Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • The story line is very cute.
  • The graphics are very good.
  • The soundtrack is very “super hero” and is fun to listen to, if a bit repetitive after a while.
  • The controls are better since the last update.

Cons

  • Even with the new Joystick controls, it’s still a learning curve to get your character to do what you want.
  • The objectives doesn’t always seem to be very interesting, or difficult.
  • There are no consequences to getting “hurt” except losing stars, which you still get credit for having found in the first place, so it cuts down on the challenge.
  • The translation to English is a bit off throughout a good portion of the game, not enough to make it unplayable, but enough to be a bit annoying after a while.

Features:

I am a huge fan of several of Herocraft’s games, so I really wanted to like this one too. The story line is very cute – a group of characters, the Kikoriki, have decided to become superheros to fight the bad guys. Unfortunately, while I got that part, the translations of most of the game were off by enough that it made it a bit difficult to follow the specifics at times. It’s not unplayable by any means, and if you stop and spend a few minutes at each dialog page, you can figure it out, but when I’m playing an action game, I don’t want to stop and re-read something several times to figure it out.

The controls of the game, when I first started reviewing it, were absolutely terrible. I couldn’t get my character to the end of a level without a lot of cursing at it to just do what I was telling it to do. In the middle of reviewing the game, an update came out that brought joystick controls – a very, very welcome addition. :D It is much, much easier to move the characters around now, although it’s still not perfect. I don’t curse at it anymore, at least, which is a huge step forward. :P

In terms of gameplay itself, controls aside, the objective is to get to the other end of the level, and collect things like stars and flowers along the way. Later in the game, you control several characters, each with its own power, so you have to strategize how to use them to complete the level. Overall, I didn’t think it was too challenging, to be honest. There are no consequences, really, to getting hit by a bad guy or falling in a pit except your stars go everywhere. And even then, on the level summary page at the end, you still get credit for all the stars you found. So you can be reckless and try whatever you want in an attempt to find the right way, and not really worry about it. To me, this took away some of the fun of it. I don’t want it to be so hard I’m cursing at it again, but at the same time, there needs to be some element of challenge, otherwise it gets boring fast.

Fun Factor:

The game isn’t challenging, aside from learning the controls, so it was fun, but not so much that it held my attention for long. Honestly, I can see kids getting a lot more enjoyment out of this than adults, so if you have them in your life, this might be a perfect game for them.

Addictive:

As I mentioned above, I didn’t think it was that challenging of a game, overall. It’s fun, but it just didn’t hold my attention for very long.

Graphics:

This is one of the best areas of the game. The animation and graphics are adorable, and very well done. It’s like playing in a perfect cartoon world.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

The soundtrack is a great “super hero” kind of thing, and I liked it. After a while it got a bit repetitive, but it fits really well with the game, and it makes it very easy for you to silence it if you don’t want to listen.

Should you Download Kikoriki? Since the update with the better controls, the game has definitely gotten better. But overall it’s still just not something that held my interest for long. The challenge level and reason to keep coming back, other than the storyline itself which was at times hard to follow, just wasn’t there. I think for kids, this is a great game, something to give them to play that they’ll be able to do without getting frustrated. For adults though, it’s a cute game, but not one that will hold you for very long.
