Key Ring Reward Cards Android App is a cool idea! If you’re like me and hate too much clutter hanging from your key ring, such as retail store bar code rewards cards, but want to reap the rewards… then this Android app is for you. You can scan the bar code of those cards and store them in your phone. Browse through hundreds of store options in the list or type in the name if not available, the app offers options to email stores unlisted for inclusion later. If your bar code scanner doesn’t pick up the code, alternatively you can manually enter the digits. Backup and Restore your personal database of cards to SD storage.
Gripe Alert: As cool as this app is, there are a bit too many variables involved to properly scan the phone with this app, such as; don’t try flatbed scanners at all, try the handhelds and hold the phone about 5-6 inches away, hold it perpendicular to the center of the bar code, prior to scanning dim the screen a bit to not reflect too much light back at the scanner and of course make sure your screen is clean. Plus you have to remember to backup your cards before updating.

Key Ring Reward Cards Android App is very useful for storing all your rewards cards in one place and in the portable device you’ll most likely have with you all the time.
The app suffers from ease of use due to some of the constraints mentioned above, however there are ways around this by having the retail clerk manually enter the rewards card number or by mastering the art of scanning the phone (see the vid above).
Potentially used at every retailer you may have a rewards card with.
The app displays a crisp version of the bar code with number, store name and logo if available.

I tested this app with my CVS card and their scanners were able to read it fine. In fact all the older ladies had to come over to see it.
Oh yeah, you know how I roll!
For the life of me I could not get the Food Lion card to scan.
Only gotten a few codes scanned in so far. Seems to work for the most part, but like the commenter above me I just couldn’t get my Price Chopper card to scan – had to punch it in by hand. Read YMCA, BJ’s, and more with relative ease though.
My BJ’s card wouldn’t work at the gas pump either, no matter how bright/dim the screen was (I was already in the shade), how far away or what angle I held the phone.
Haven’t been inside to test that one out though.
“Key Ring Reward Cards Android App is very useful for storing all your rewards cards in once place and in the portable device you’ll most likely have with you all the time.” RIght. As opposed to those other portable devices that are rarely carried with you – your keys and your wallet / purse.
Last I checked keys and wallets are NOT devices. Plus you don’t have actually carrier many physical cards bulking your keys with this app.
Seems to have many limitations so far. I have a number of cards (like a local library card) that Key Ring just was not able to process correctly (even manually creating it. The resultant code just did not work (or look anything like the code on the card.) It does work well with my CVS card. However, there is a software glitch that prevents you from having more than one card from a retailer. This only became a problem because I didn;t like the original scan of my CVS barcode, and went to create another. The app would not allow me to use the already embedded CVS logo to identify the second attempt. Annoying.
My bar codes keep getting replaced with numbers. Has anyone else experienced this
Having trouble downloading any except my tesco card, have given up and will pass job to my son when I see him next…lol
