Kaptilo is a curious puzzle game with smart graphics, immersive and challenging gameplay and great sound. The aim of the game game is to help robot Kaptilo escape a series of rooms- ensuring he turns out all the lights first. In a nutshell this means traversing every square in the room. There is that other burden of physics to deal with as well, which adds to the challenge of the game. Lots of fun, the game will definitely appeal to fans of quirky brain-teasers.

Features:
Kaptilo is an immersive and challenging puzzle game for Android. You have to guide a robot named Kaptilo (he’s just a circle really but go with it…) through various rooms. In each room he must pass over each of the lights to turn them out. Cue a tough brain-bending game which requires logic, patience and some lateral thinking.
Controls are incredibly simple, just sweep your finger in the direction you want Kaptilo to go and tap to jump, ensuring he eventually reaches the exit. You can actually use the accelerometer in your phone for tilt-control too, which is a great touch. There are various physical rules to abide by but there are a few other characters you’ll meet which help you overcome each level. I thought the learning curve was good, but I imagine some people might not have the patience for it.
The latest update of the game introduces a very chilled soundtrack which compliments the quirky atmosphere of the game. There are also cool sound effects when you complete a level, jump and reach the exit. As you progress through levels you gradually understand Kaptilo’s purpose and are also introduced to new characters. In summary it’s a fun and challenging game that will please puzzle fans immensely.

Fun Factor:
Kaptilo is delightful to play and lots of fun. I think the more impatient gamer might get frustrated easily, but this shouldn’t dissuade fans of this kind of genre. Having to switch out the lights is a fun take on a familiar logic puzzle and is presented in a friendly and fun manner. In between levels the narrative is delivered with a cute slice of humour which makes progression even more interesting.
Addictive:
If these kind of puzzle games are your cup of tea, Kaptilo will be right up your street. There are lots of levels to work through and even more in the full version, so there should be plenty to get stuck into. The game supports OpenFeint scoring and you can see how your times compare with other gamers. On that basis the competitive bone is going to be seduced into playing more and more.
Graphics:
Graphics are good, although there’s more emphasis on cool game design than wowing you with impressive visual effects. The design is, however, beautiful and works really well, adding to an enjoyable and refreshing gaming experience.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The music and sound, as discussed, is new in the latest version and works really well with the game. The game vibrates when you make Kaptilo jump etc., and you can switch to tilt control to use the accelerometer. Each of these are nicely developed and work well. It’s great to see developers utilising these aspects which can also be switched on or off to suit the user.
