Let’s put this data into perspective, had this been 1 advertiser in 1 week, we would have sent them 2,092 potential app buyers versus the 500 initially projected. Now multiply that by 4 weeks and see what kind of Return on Investment that offers. To bad for us in losing visitors yet great for the Android Developers who reaped the traffic.
One of the main reasons we launched this advertising “taste-test” promotion was to offer more education to potential advertisers about Internet Advertising and how our website can help facilitate those goals using real data.
A Bit about ROI
Although the CTR the participants experienced was insanely high, we estimate the higher response to the ads were due to lack of “banner blindness” and attributes to the reason why we targeted Android Developers. Their ad content regarded apps that sparked our viewers attention. Whether they were familiar with the app or not, it drew responses through the roof!
Often times many potential advertisers are concerned about ROI; genuinely questioning whether the site actually is sending the amount of traffic they claim, whether their visitors actually click on the ads or ignore them, and the quality of traffic sent. To use a practical example, if you recall… Google booted the YouTube Downloader app from the Market, which leaves the developer in need of a venue to showcase and sell his app. As one of the participants, this targeted niche traffic proved paramount.
Based on the recent data, the Cost Per Click for the promotion was just under $0.01 cent. We illustrate this to show that each click would cost an advertiser $0.01-$0.02 cents per click for our sidebar ad slot… a far minute cost on the return… would you agree???

Stay tuned as we’ll summarize the second week of lucky advertisers.
