Sprint released an update for the HTC Evo on September 22nd (version 3.29.651.5) that included a few small features. On their support site, they only outline calendar and multiple gmail account sync fixes. Of course, the moment I saw the notification I jumped on the opportunity to download it.

After the install, I notice the device’s animations had become more fluid and faster. I downloaded the application called “FPS2D” to test the framerate which was originally blocked at 30 fps. Behold, I achieved an average of 53 frames per second during the test!

HTC and Sprint were definitely sneaky about this one. We all remember how HTC said that removing the framerate cap wasn’t possible and described it as a hardware issue with the HDMI-OUT (Source: Engadget). HTC Evo users can now experience all of their videos, games, and apps without this rather annoying restriction!
