Recently we posted how Verizon will be rolling out Froyo updates to their Droid family phones, one of them is the Incredible running Sense UI from HTC. Those who have an EVO from Sprint, such as my self, were seething when I found out how fast Verizon was rolling out Froyo updates; and again Sprint will be taking a lengthy time to update our Androids. You are familiar with this if you ever owned or own a Hero.
Well just my luck, one day after I rooted my EVO and flashed “cm6 Froyo” to the device. This news reported from Engadget states inside information from Sprint has said they will begin an OTA update for the EVO to Android 2.2 with a whole list of added updates including Sense UI plus improve the overall Froyo experience by July 30th August 3rd. Sprint has stated this update to be of high priority and it should be, why should I own this great device and it not be current with the latest Android OS.
I will be watching to see if this date holds up and when and if I need to flash my EVO back to stock to receive the update. Thanks Sprint for at least attempting this early release because by Christmas was totally unacceptable!

Linking to your previous story doesnt make it real. The froyo rom was not official, was a cooked rom for incredible. Not for droid family. Until the company rolls it out, it is not proof that they will, only that they are working on it. They could potentially abandon it right up until they actually release it.
You really should update your other story.
Developers get their hands on releases of ROM’s all the time, most of these sites where they are released are developers of the handsets and carriers themselves. It’s just that you have to be rooted in order to flash them early. I’m not complaining if I get the release early with a few extra perks of root and increased ROM functionality, but its understandable that many users are not willing to void their warranty or risk bricking their phone. In the end a lot of people don’t want to play the waiting game with these carriers, and take charge. I am sorry if I mislead or our readers that was not intentional.
