HP Slate 7 is HP’s official first attempt into building an Android-powered tablet; it launches in April 2013 for $169.99. Though not a high-end tablet as we’ve been accustomed to- it does satisfy the first-time tablet buyers market. Under the hood are specs of yesteryear; a 1.6 GHz A9 processor, 7-inch display (at 1024×600 resolution), 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage with microSD expansion, plus 3-megapixel rear and VGA grade front-facing shooters. HP has the device running on mostly stock Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with only minor tweaks for HP’s Beats Audio and ePrint software.
