I also run Windows 7 64 Bit, and I got it to work by changing the compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

Right click on Kies Mini, click on Compatibility, then under Compatibility mode (first one) click “run this program in compatibility mode for” then in the drop down menu choose “Windows XP (Service Pack 3)” and hit okay.

That did the trick for me, hope it works for you too!

I had the same problem. Found a link to some old full version keis downloads, did the download and ran, don’t let it update or it won’t work. Then plug in your phone and there is a firmware uprade button and it did it in about 15-20 mins. It was realy easy, didn’t lose anything. I wish I had the link to give you but didn’t keep it.

Hi, i’m following the steps, installed kies, restarted pc, set the developers part on phone to USB debugging. Plugged cord into phone then USB. Windows keeps failing to recognize device. Any ideas? I am running Win 7 32bit. Would the cable have anything to do with the problem? I am using a generic made cable for the phone and not the one that came in the retail box. Tried all USB ports on laptop and do have USB 2.0. Dont think i missed any steps, but any help would be appreciated.

I got the update working, took a few different trys. #1. Has to be the retail cable, the extra one i had wouldnt work. #2 Win 7 x32 wouldnt work as everytime i plugged the phone in to do the update Kies mini stopped respondong. Ended up using a work xp sp3 machine and worked like a charm. Welcome to Androiod 2.2 :)
