At our first of many outstanding Mobile Tech Seminars I gave a speech with tips on “How to Promote Android Apps?” in a series about “How to Promote Your Mobile App”. I wanted to posted those tips if you weren’t one of the nearly 400 attendees to consume the content of the seminar. Since this is an Android website, lets look at a few effective tips How to Promote Android Apps!
Create an Excellent App
Before you can effectively promote your apps the first place it take care of is home. Be sure you have an excellent so your software adds value to the consumer.

Customer & Tech Support
Listen to your customers feedback. If there are common features many of them gripe about in the Android Market comments, email or social media then listen to those feature enhancements and iterate to incorporate as many to better your product or services. Changelogs are important, so post them and keep them updated.
When we interviewed Ivan Mitrovic, VP of Technology at uLocate Communications, creators of WHERE app their keys to success on Android was just that. Listen to customers and iterate fast, their strategy was to yield design over functionality… then worry about aesthetics later. Not suggesting this approach to the formula will work for all… but the Listen & Iterate part does!

This principle can be said to any business owner, be fully aware of what others are doing in your similar space as often consumers naturally compare your app against the rest.

Android App Review Websites
As you know we are the leading Android App Review website worldwide by far; I’ll talk about how to reach us but would like to explore our competition. Please do submit your apps to them as you would want to get as much coverage in your press portfolio as possible.
Now lets talk about AndroidTapp.com. If you don’t know we keep a dedicated Get Reviewed submission form, and many developers use it as we get hundreds of submissions weekly. If you have not heard anything please be diligent & patient and try again.
Know Our Reach and Audience
Next I’d like to add, Know Our Reach and Audience, or know the reach and audience demographics of the Android app review websites or online media sites’ audience you’re trying to reach. At the seminar I recommended Google’s DoubleClick Ad Planner, a great tool to get an accurate estimation on any websites’ traffic and audience demographics. Also we request evaluation copies of developers software and ensure discretion with our public Software Discretion Policy. We often get replies to purchase from the Market and receive reimbursement. First, we have never refunded any app purchase, we are a prominent resource to help flourish the mobile application ecosystem and simply do not participate in the negative statistic of refunds plus this causes more administrative overhead. Second, it is in a developers best interest to provide the world’s most influential brand for Android app reviews everything they need to move swiftly through the review cycle.
Send Us Press Releases
Also many developers or PR firms reach out to us on their behave. Press releases are great communications tools but often are overly complicated with pure marketing speak. A tip I often give developers is to summarize the release in a casual conversation then attach the release. Then we in the media can quickly read and understand what your release is about and grab details and quotes from the release. As for us in the media often the first to publish the story tends to get the most recognition (traffic) benefits, which leads into my next point…

We respect embargo dates of future releases, often we prefer to have time with juicy app and/or Android related news than the frenzy of receiving it and pumping it out. Remember our niche is reviews even though we have a high ranking for Android News, so we’ll gladly opt for taking a few days to review your app over blasting fresh news instantly. All the more reason to send it early.

Many of the points outlined above for reaching us can be applied to other online media sites way larger than us! Don’t forget about traditional offline media as well. Investing in creative PR firms tends to come with reach both online and offline such as; newspapers, magazines, white papers, etc.
Lets not forget the core success vehicle in this model: a top-down media approach. Getting your message through the wire at the top level, if a large publication picks it up the viral rebroadcast influence can be spread wide and far.

Social media is a collection of posts in its own respect. But the key to social media is the conversation. Does every company need a Facebook or Twitter account? That’s debatable but if you choose to delve, be sure it’s about engaging your audience where the conversation is and in the context of the conversation without directly marketing something. Create Videos
One of the most engaging ways you can tell what your app is about in the fastest time is through video. Occasionally for us, we’ll use your video in a news announcement or app review. The limitation there is video content is not searchable unless it’s transcribed or described well in video descriptions.
