Hot Apps: The newest and best apps in the Android Market. Hot Apps is written and run by Android experts who have deep insight and passion about Android Apps. It utilizes the cut edge technology to provide speed, performance and best user experience. It is hosted in the cloud and designed for speed and scale. Features:
Hot Apps is a tool for finding new quality applications in the Android Marketplace. Hot Apps has four basic categories to choose from in order to discover new applications: Hot Today, All Time, Best of 2010, and Discover.
Hot Today allows you to see which applications are currently trending on the Android Marketplace. Hot Apps allows you to sort this list by the category of application you are looking for.
All time shows a list of the most popular Android applications of all time. This seems to be the least useful of the categories in Hot Apps because it is most similar to the way that applications are shown in the Android marketplace. There are a few hidden gems in here, but most of them are popular applications that everyone knows about like Angry Birds, Skype, or Barcode Scanner.
The Best of 2010 category is more useful. This category allows you to see the most popular and highest rated applications that were made last year. There are a few excellent applications in this category that I had not heard of before, and is definitely worth looking through.
Finally, the discover mode allows you to shake the screen to see a list of icons for various android applications. After looking at the list of icons you touch the one that interests you and are brought to the market to view its details. This is an interesting way to discover new applications, but it is impossible to choose a specific type of application. The concept is interesting, but it’s application is impractical.

Usefulness:
My favorite thing about Hot Apps is its speedy load time. Unlike AppBrain this application loads up almost instantly. It does a good job recommending quality applications as well. This makes Hot Apps very useful to quickly find a quality application you have never seen before.
The downside to Hot Apps is that it does not sync with your Google account to see what applications you currently use and enjoy. The ability to avoid redundant applications and to suggest applications that are relevant to the user is a definite advantage that AppBrain has over Hot Apps.
Ease of Use:
Hot Apps is very easy to use. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The only part of the interface that wasn’t self explanatory was the Discover page. It does not tell you that you need to randomly click on an application, instead it just says shake to discover.
Frequently Used:
I wouldn’t recommend replacing an application like AppBrain for Hot Apps. Though Hot Apps can be very useful and does seem to use a better algorithm then some of it’s competitors, there is not enough personalization within the application to make it one I would use regularly. This application is great for quick recommendations, but lacks the customization to my personal needs that would make me use it more regularly.
Interface:
The interface is clean and easy to use. The big problem with the interface is it’s lack of further customization or personalization. You can only restrict the search by type and kind of application, there is no further customization allowed. This lack of customization causes Hot Apps to recommend applications you are already using, and also prevents you from finding applications easily that meet a specific need.
