Hoccer Throw Data Android App allows you to throw data like contacts, web addresses, pictures, music, ring tones, and text messages to friends and they catch them (assuming they have Hoccer install too). You can also throw other file types provided you have the third-party app OI File Manager installed. Catch a URL and it conveniently opens the link in the web browser, catch a picture and the gallery opens, catch music and your default media player streams the tune, catch a text message and read it, catch a contact to view full details and make a call… Cool!
Hoccer was a winner of the Productivity/Tools category in Google’s second Android Developer Challenge.

The app uses cool gestures to transfer various data types between Android smartphone and iPhones. Very convenient way to transfer data.
The app could use some improvement here as it seems you really have to sling your phone when gesturing “Throw”, plus you have to remember to hold the phone up a few seconds after gesturing a “Catch”. Also remember to return to the start screen when catching, else it won’t recognize the gesture. Caution not to actually throw your phone and damage it using this app (can we say Wii accidents). ;-)
Dependent on whether you and friends both have the app installed and how often you need to share information.

Is there really no way to just transfer and receive files by safely pushing a button on the screen? I would not feel safe nearly throwing my $500 phone! I love the idea, but I will wait for a safter alternative.
We introduced an ultra simple one-to-one transfer technique in the v1.5 release of our Android client. Now you can simply drag ‘n drop content from one touchsceen to the other! Of course you can still use the throw/catch gestures for one-to-may distribution.
Now that’s service! I am looking forward to installing this on both my and my wife’s phones and giving it a try. It sounds like it will be a lot simpler to use than Bluetooth File Transfer.
Hi, was curious if this does work on the Motorola Droid? My wife works with 2 people, one has the Eris and the other has an IPhone and she said that Hoccer only works with those 2. She also said that they use it to trade actual apps with each other. I am getting my Droid tomorrow and am very excited about this app.
Thanks

Yes! It works with DROID… and you can trade apps with it (if unprotected).
