Hill Climb Racing is a simple yet addictive racing game on Android. The game is a 2D physics-based racer where you have to traverse a number of hills and bumps for as long as possible. The aim of the game is to stay upright and not run out of fuel. Gameplay is challenging and, while the graphics are very simplistic compared to other games we have reviewed, it’s easy to play and more addictive than you might think.

Pros & Cons:

Cons
- Very simplistic graphics compared to similar games.
Features:
Hill Climb Racing is a neat little game if you like physics-based racing games. We’ve reviewed a fair share here at AndroidTapp, including Snuggle Truck and Zombie Rider. While both of these titles are far better-looking graphics-wise, if you’re looking for something similar and with the ability to upgrade your vehicles, Hill Climb Racing isn’t a bad option.
Controls are extremely simple- on the left is gas and on the right is break. Just manage these competently as you progress and try to stay upright! If things do go wrong expect the level to end with a nasty crunching noise as your drivers neck snaps! (Hence the Low Maturity rating.) The aim of the game is to travel as far as you can. The terrain is tough and you do end up bobbling about all over the place trying to keep control.
As you progress and earn money with each ride, you can upgrade your vehicle, increasing the ability of your engine, suspension, tires and 4WW. You can also opt to make some in-app purchases to boost your game finances and upgrade quicker, but in a way this system adds to the longevity of the game. While Hill Climb Racing isn’t the best game of its genre, it’s undoubtedly addictive and fun to play- even if you find it a little sensitive to begin with!

Fun Factor:
For short-bursts of amusement, Hill Climb Racing is a fun game to play, but it’s not going to blow you away. Definitely try it out if you like this genre of racing games, but I’m not convinced it does enough to encourage new gamers to this type of game.
Addictive:
There is something decidedly compulsive about the game and it’s not easy to put down, especially if you’ve played similar titles. I think because you can upgrade and improve your scores over time, it might certainly be something you return to time and time again. That said, I really do think you need to be ‘into’ these kind of games to enjoy it.
Graphics:
The visuals are 2D and quite simple, certainly not the best in the category, but by no means the worst. Compared to the likes of Snuggle Truck, Hill Climb Racing looks a little ugly, but on its own it works fine and offers a number of different effects (such as skidding) which are pretty cool.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is this funky rock track that bristles along with gameplay quite well. I thought at first it might be the kind that grates after a while (the loop is quite short) but, to be honest, it’s quite catchy and not something that might necessitate you dashing to switch off.
