Features:
HexDefense is an awesome tower defense game for Android. Your objective is to use one of four weapons defense towers against twenty waves of attackers whose speed and strength vary just as your arsenal of defense, which have to be purchased as you blast your digital enemy to smithereens. The types of towers are:
- Minigun for $15. Targets one enemy at a time, and shoots small, white projectiles. Good for rapid shot front line defense.
- Lasers for $25. Fires a high power energy beam through an entire row of enemies, damaging all of them. They cover a wider area of defense with a pulsating shot.
- Missles for $30. Launches heat seeking rockets at enemies. Which will track and blast enemies within range.
- Shockwave for $50. Sends out periodic shock waves, damaging all enemies in range. Which have a short area of destruction, suggested to use in tight spaces.
This game gets pretty intense, as you have to possess the defensive wit of a military General to defend Kamikaze waves of attackers… get hit ten times and “Game Over”! This game challenges your brain as it’s not just about placing hoards of gunners to stop the baddies, but strategically placing certain gunners, or forcing them into funnels to maximize eradication. Sort of like a tactic in one of my fav movies of all time, 300, where they funneled the large legion in a narrow corridor where enemy numbers accounted for nothing! Below we’ve listed the strengths and weaknesses of the enemies and bosses:
 |
Standard Creep: Reasonably strong, reasonably fast. |
 |
Yellow Creep: Faster than standard creeps, but also weaker. |
 |
Purple Creep: A weak outer shell protects two smaller creeps which burst out when the shell is destroyed. |
 |
Laser Boss: Slow moving creep capable of deflecting laser beams, preventing them from damaging other creeps in it’s path. |
 |
Minigun Boss: Slow moving creep that dissolves to become impervious to minigun towers. |
 |
Rocket Boss: Slow moving creep protected from rockets by a particle shield. |
 |
Shockwave Boss: Slow moving creep that is impervious to shockwaves and reflects them back at the towers. |
Knowing the special tiles on the game board helps as well too! Some of the more difficult levels have complex maps with special tiles that give enemy creeps temporary powers. Some tiles speed up enemies moving over them, while others do damage or force creeps to move in a specific direction. You can incorporate these tiles into your strategy to deal extra damage or make creeps to spend more time near your towers!
 |
Directional Tile: Creeps that land on this tile have to move in the direction specified by the arrow. |
 |
Damaging Tile: This tile does incremental damage to creeps that land on top of it. |
 |
Healing Tile: This tile partially heals creeps that move over it. |
 |
Sludge Tile: Creeps moving over this tile slow down and it takes them more time twice as much time to cross the tile. |
 |
Fast Tile: Creeps moving over this tile speed up-crossing the tile in half the usual time. This is bad news for nearby towers, since they have less time to attack the creeps. |

HexDefense Game Tips:
- You can fast-forward the game by tapping the “Play” arrow in the upper right hand corner of the game screen! Tapping it again slows the game down again.
- You can make the next wave of creeps attack more quickly by tapping the enemy spawn point. You get a score bonus for every second you send the wave early!
Fun Factor & Addictive:
HexDefense is extremely fun and addictive. Once you get started, it’s hard to put the game down, especially if the barrage gets the best of you. It creates a burning desire for you to beat those bastards! HexDefense features many level types so you’re not bored with the same game boards, plus normal and intense game difficulty modes.
Graphics:
HexDefense uses simple yet appropriate geometric shape graphics to represent game tokens. Where the game shines even more graphically is the fact that it runs well on older generation Android devices.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The game features great sound effects plus a great techno soundtrack.
