HEAVY GUNNER 3D is an action packed first person accelerometer controlled shooter game. Your goal in the campaign is to defend against the enemies of humanity blasting as many alien aircraft out of the sky without getting eliminated, however you’re given a number quota to reach and at the end of the round scored by your skill and accuracy to eventually post your high scores online in global ranking.

Set in the future, Earth has been invaded by aliens… your job is to defend at all costs. HEAVY GUNNER 3D puts your skill to the test as you tilt, turn, roll and fire your way through intergalactic battle fields featuring intense in your face 3D graphics.

How to Play and Control HEAVY GUNNER 3D:

Actually controlling your warcraft takes a but of getting used to initially and probably worth calibrating your phone’s accelerometer first. Controls to remember are:

Menu

On the top left

Shoot

On the bottom left and right, control the aim of your weapons independently
Each weapon has its own manual and characteristics
Ammo is recharged after a brief pause

Aim & Direction

Touch Control : Drag the screen to adjust
Tilt Down for VIEWING UP to view the sky (I know… counter intuitive)
Tilt Up for VIEWING DOWN towards the flat horizon (again… counter intuitive)
Tilt Left/Tilt Right to swing left or right

Weapon Change

On the top right
Can change up to 2 types of weapons per mission

Weapon Information

Displays the remaining number of bullets, or heat gauge, or reload gauge according to the weapon type

Shield & Strength

Being attacked by the enemy will decrease the shield bar
Strength will only decrease when the shield bar expends out
Shield automatically recovers

Radar

Indicates the location of incoming enemies from a 360 degree radius

So how is performance on the Incredible with this? I know the Inc doesn’t have the 3D hardware acceleration that the DroidX and some other current gen phones have. Does this run well on that phone?

  Good question, it was reviewed and played flawlessly on Nexus One. We’ll have it tested on Incredible. I was not aware that phone did not have hardware acceleration.

    I saw some benchmarks showing Snapdragon based phones not having the 3D acceleration that other phones (like the Motorola Droid) have. That’s all. I haven’t honestly looked too much into it. Just some things coming up on my RSS feed.

I did download it, it seems to run fantastically well on the Inc after all.

By the way, you can change the Y Axis tilt in the settings so it’s what you would expect it to be (not joystick like).

I looked at the reviews, watched the game promo and eventually downloaded the game. The graphics are by far some of the best that the Market has seen. As for the controls, it wasn’t just the learning curve, it was also my screens reflective surface that made tilting my phone awkward and hard to see. I uninstalled due to frustration.
