HBO GO Android App officially launches

HBO released the much-talked about HBO GO app for both Android and iOS today. With it, you can access the more than 1,400 shows and specials that make up HBO’s content portfolio. Download the app using convenient tools above and below:

HBO GO Free Introducing HBO GO®. The new streaming service from HBO®. Watch over 1,400 of your favorite HBO shows, including HBO original programming, hit movies, sports, comedy and much more—now available on Android smartphones! It’s HBO. Anywhere. Free with your HBO subscription through participating television providers.

The app is free to download, but you must be an HBO subscriber through your local cable provider to access more than the main splash screen. The actual service, according to HBO’s website, isn’t yet available on all providers, but they note that the list is growing quickly, so if you can’t access it just yet, don’t give up hope.

Disappointed. Downloaded/installed on Motorola Droid (Froyo). Got the HBO splash page, then a pop-up saying “HBO Go is not supported on this device.”

I just scanned the code (with the Bar Code Scanner app, great app by the way) and got this downloaded to my phone. I already had an account setup on the HBOGO website and fell in love with that, but couldnt wait to get it on my phone, I have a Samsung Fascinate and it works great. The video quality is just as good as what you would get on the website (albeit with a good connection). I highly recommend it to anyone who has a Samsung phone (Especially a Fascinate).

P.S. Watching the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.

I downloaded the app and installed it. It installed fine but when I launched it, I got a message saying “HBO GO is not supported on this device”. I have a Motorola Droid with Android 2.2 on Verizon’s network. Whats up? Works fine on my laptop.

Works for me on a Droid Incredible 2. But does anyone know what happened to Max Go for Cinemax? I can’t find it..
