Happy Birthday AndroidTapp Turns 4!

The T-Mobile G1, the first and only Android phone at the time, launched on October 22nd 2008. A few weeks after that, which is four years ago today I started, what was to be a hobby site, design to do simple reviews of Android apps from the, then called, Android Market. If you can recall back then there were about a hundred apps with more trickling in daily; in comparison to Apple’s more than thousands. There were no paid apps, no web version of the Market to browse apps online, no other carriers supporting it, and only one manufacturer with a retail device available. Did you know we were the first website to give away the first Android phone? Fast forward today, and Android has saturated the marketplace, even recently reported on 75% of smartphones in the third quarter, nearing a million apps. Android has grown tremendously and so have we! So this post is honored to our milestones with some juicy stats below…

We claim this four-year reigning title based on the overwhelming response of our readers, in addition to the fact that we have the most thorough, accurate and unbiased reviews of any other website in the world. Though we only care about quality content, our track record have shown that we too have quantity, with the most number of professional reviews of Android apps, rather than a section dedicated to it.
Near a Million Clicks to Google Play

We’re the developer’s advocate, and we have stats to prove it. Over the past year we’ve sent nearly a million clicks (well nearly 800k is more accurate) back to Google Play to download/buy apps. Our reviews truly offer a try before you buy experience which can influence purchasing decisions on apps.
In addition to the grand exposure we provide to developers, we also offer an additional way for then to monetize their apps in our boutique-style Android app store. Consumers and developers win as each developer and app are vetted for quality, plus it’s less cluttered and easier to find great apps.
