HandWrite Note and Draw – a fully featured handwriting plus drawing app for phones & tablets
Jul 10, 2014 10:38 AM –
HandWrite Note and Draw is a cool note-taking plus drawing app with plenty of features to express your thoughts in handwritten format. It’s vector based so it’s really fast and smooth. There are tools to easily transfer these to digital formats like photos, vector graphics files and PDF documents. If you’re a person dominate of the right side of the brain, then this is a must-have app for you!
Price: Free, Offers in-app purchases

Pros & Cons:
- Fast and smooth vector based notes!
- Loaded with features for handwriting and drawing!
- Features pressure sensitive pen types!
- Auto smooth lines and manually resize or adjust objects after created!
- Supports layers!
- Export in graphics and document formats!
- Eraser tool is limited.
- Fill tool not included by default.
HandWrite Note and Draw is loaded with awesome features for handwriting and drawing! It’s vector based, meaning the engine under the hood makes extremely lightweight- yet highly scalable objects for each line you write, draw, etc. There are benefits when zooming- it zips with zero lag and without pixelation or losing quality… plus you can export to JPG & PNG photo formats, *SVG vector format, and PDF document formats!
There are four pen types. The first is pressure sensitive- simulating pressure from the likes of the S Pen stylus for Galaxy series devices. The slower you stroke the thinner the line, the faster the thicker the line. The second pen is ideal for S Pen users as it will give thicker stroke as you press down more. The third is a flat pencil and the fourth is apart of the Premium features to fill in swiggly objects. Furthermore, you can adjust stroke thickness and there’s a nifty feature which allows you to adjust smoothness of your strokes- i.e. low or none for handwriting or increased for drawing objects. And if you do have a compatible styli device there will be a checkbox “Stylus only” which is a palm rejection feature (so you won’t cause mistaken marks), not available on other devices- so be aware.
There are line and basic shape creation tools too. My gripe is with the Eraser tool as it’s limited to removing an entire object. It should have the normal function to eraser through objects you stroke through if you desire. You can add basic text as well. And one of the coolest features in this dialog are the suite of vector editing options. You can select an object and move, resize, copy or my fav… granular edit the shape manually or tap a button to auto smooth it!

There is a color picker along with preset swatches- I like that it remembers your recently used colors too! You can add photos and write/draw on them as well. You’ll find the Undo/Redo buttons very convenient. There is basic layer support. You can duplicate and order layers, manipulate layer opacity and hide them. This is how I was able to make the rough drawing of Bart Simpson above. I just wish the app came with a solid and gradient fill tool by default versus having to roughly hand draw in smooth solid shapes.
Navigating around the document is easy; pinch to zoom and use two fingers to move around the document. Page options are versatile as you can change the paper size or leave it as an unlimited canvas. The app auto saves your work but only as you leave or switch to another document.
