Features:
The Hackers Handbook is a reference book for those interested in the art of hacking and social engineering. This application is available for Android and covers topics like: Protecting yourself from hackers, Hacking WiFi, Hacking User Accounts, Hacking Computers, Hacking Websites, Miscellaneous Hacks. Each of these topics have a variety of subtopics with step by step instructions on how to protect yourself from exploitation or to participate in it. It also features frequent updates from the developer.
So what is the Hacker’s Handbook and why would I want it? As I stated before it is a reference book on various security exploits and ways to protect from those exploits. This application will appeal to people who are interested in the state of current digital security, people who are interested in learning about digital security to protect themselves from being a victim, and those people who are looking to test the limits of digital security through experimentation.
The developer breaks the application down in to five sections: Hacking WiFi, Hacking User Accounts, Hacking Computers, Hacking Websites, and Miscellaneous Hacks. In each section he gives instructions on how to hack various digital security systems in a simple easy to learn fashion. If you are looking for information on brute forcing secured accounts, programming in various languages, and reverse engineering digital security on software applications this application will not do it for you.
Instead Hackers Handbook does give excellent easier instructions to follow to crack both WEP and WPA networks using BackTrack 5. It details how to set up the software and then how to use it in order to crack through a secured WiFi network and to gain access to the network.
Under “Hacking Accounts” the application gives various methods for obtaining Facebook Login information over a wireless network, through Firefox, and Trojan horses. It also gives you information on how to engage in “phishing” to obtain user information from the user themselves, as well as how to obtain passwords from stored files on the computer.
Under “Hacking Computers” the application walks you through obtaining access to a secured personal computer through Metasploit, Meterpreter, and a FUD Crypter. Each of these methods include step by step instructions on how to obtain access to the secured PC as well as links to help you set download the software directly from the website without any messy copying or pasting.
The remaining two sections work in a similar fashion providing the user with step-by-step instructions on various hacking & social engineering techniques to either gain access to secured information, or to shut down a secured server by flooding it with data.

Usefulness:
This application is useful for learning a little bit more about the hacking community and how potential computer hackers may attempt to gain access to your information. It is also useful in learning how to perform some of these various exploits so that you know better how to combat them in the future.
Despite the fact that much of this information can be obtained freely through the Internet; this application does an excellent job providing the information without sorting through virus filled websites or pornography. Many websites which contain this information may also store objectionable or harmful content, by using the “Hackers Handbook” the user is provided the information without the risk.
Ease of Use:
The application is extremely easy to use. The sections and subsections are well sorted and the directions are well laid out and easy to follow.
Frequently Used:
This is not an application you will use often unless you are constantly trying to gain access to computers you are not supposed to. If you are doing such things then you probably should stop, but this could be an interesting reference if you are trying to research the topic for school. Unfortunately, due to it’s niche content this is not an application many people will use.
Interface:
The interface of the Hackers Handbook is fairly easy to navigate. All of the application’s options are out in the open and you do not need to go hunting through menus to find anything. All of the websites referred to in the book are linked to in the application and so are easy to open and refer to later.
Probably the biggest downside of the application interface is that it is only available as an Android application and there is no desktop side assistant to the application. The reason this is a negative thing for the application is that the majority of exploits referred to in this book are done via the computer. This means that all of the links in the book need to be accessed from a computer. So in order to access the correct links the user would need to forward them from their phone via email or through a third party application. This creates more work for the end user to perform in order to use this resource and so makes the user experience more difficult then it should be.
