The GoSmart Stylus are a suite of precision styli available in two designs with or without a magnetic strip inside (for snapping to the edge of an iPad.) The key benefits of this stylus is that it’s universal, and works on virtually any touchscreen display; smartphone or tablet- device agnostic. Plus the tip makes viewing the screen easier than a comparable plastic tip and far superior to thick soft tips. Does the enhancements justify the cost? Let’s find out in the review!
Price: Buy it from GoSmart for $23.95
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Universal precision stylus; works on most any touch screen smartphone or tablet. Tested on Android phones, Android tablets, iPhone and iPad!
- Offers better precision as you can see through the metal tip in comparison to looking through a plastic tip!
Cons
- Personal fear that the metal tip sounds like it will scratch the glass under extended use, read more.

GoSmart Stylus 200 – Close-up of Tip
When I first received the GoSmart Stylus I did not research the description, product photos or the likes so I was totally fresh to the category of precision styli . That said, I cracked the packaging open in a dimly lit room in the midst of a conversation with my wife, then pulled the cap off the pen-like gadget as I spoke to her gesturing with both hands. About a minute later I finally looked down at the two parts and thought to myself, “Uh oh… I broke it or lost the tip because there’s this weird spring hanging out.”
I then scoured the floor looking for a tip of sorts and even engaged her in the search- in hindsight to no avail. It was then I finally looked at the product marketing material that this weird spring hanging out indeed was the stylus tip!

Stylus Comparison
The comparison image above shows the landscape of styli tips; the fat rubber tip, the competition (tough to see through plastic) and the latter which offer an obvious advantage. The design of the stylus tip is one of the key features as you can see through the tip as you write. The other key enhancement is how you can easily take it to a smartphone or tablet, Android or iPhone- not product specific like the S Pen or failed stylus dedicated to one device for $30 bucks. Added to the universal aspect is how responsive it is offering more precision than fat tip rubber styli or even your finger.
The tip is Teflon coated as to glide over glass surfaces without scratching it. However, this is unproven and only my personal fear, however, the clanking sound given off by the stylus when writing/drawing leads me to feel uncomfortable that it will scratch the glass under prolonged use. One common annoyance with styli is the way you have to adjust to holding the pen as not to incur marks from your palm. I personally wished there were universal software to reject palm input to allow familiar ergonomics of handwriting of palm resting- like the feature found in the Paintrala drawing app.
GoSmart offers various versions with magnets inside so they snap to the side of an iPad like Smart Covers- the version I tested, the non-magnetic 200 series, did not have this feature. The two designs are ones that look like a typical pen or one that resembles a dart board arrow. The tip is also replaceable for $6 bucks per tip.
