We missed this small detail as Google unveiled major news yesterday with their Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet, however, the Google Play store reaches 700,000 Android apps according to Google. This milestone was reached just after Apple unveiled last week that they too have more than 700,000 iOS apps (275,000 are optimized for their iPad tablet devices.) Though far fewer Android app are tablet optimized, we anticipate it will rapidly grow as the Nexus 10 pushes consumers more towards media consumption from the Play store, plus the ten inch tablet has a higher resolution display than most HDTV’s and even rival iPad (2560×1600 pixel IPS display vs 2048×1536 pixel Retina display, respectfully).
As the number of apps exponential grows, services like our become evermore valuable as we thoroughly review, vet and showcase quality apps (or call out rubbish) among all those apps.
