After much denials of the hot rumour that Google was unleashing its own cell phone to support its wild fire Android operating system… it’s confirmed by TechCrunch via Google employees to be true. The interesting thing is that Google intends to sell the phone unlocked so consumers can use it with any GSM carrier (like T-Mobile or AT&T). The leaked specs we listed below are interesting; having the fastest processor thus far 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, 1GB 512MB of internal memory storage for Android Apps, running the latest Android 2.1 OS, brilliant OLED touch screen, no physical buttons except the trackball (there are 4 other touch screen buttons like the DROID), no physical keyboard (I’ll miss that… but includes Voice-to-Text feature along with virtuak keyboard), and 2 microphones one in the front for talking and one at the back to reduce background noise.

About time Google. Finally I can rest my G1
U and myself too! This phone is half the thickness of a G1!
I was thinking of resting my htc magic for droid, put processor speed was holding me back, then many times i almost bought the acer liquid which is brilliant, but now i am certain i will go for the nexus. It has it all.
G1 and htc magic (vodafone) suffer from low ram 192 mb, and on top of that G1 suffers from storage (ignore apps2sd).
Lets hope they will release it soon.
It sounds like a pretty good deal but I gotta tell ya, I really need a physical keyboard. I used to use a Palm wireless keyboard with my Nokia 3600 and that was fine for me. I’d be happy with a similar setup with this puppy.
You won’t miss physical keyboard with upcoming Swype thing!
There are rumors floating around that Google has negotiated cheap service plans with T-Mobile. Any truth to that? Substantially undercutting the iPhone on the monthly rates would be an a real winner.
I can’t wait to get one. Any clue what the price range might be? I’ve heard they will be very affordable…
I’ve heard in the $200 range if a mobile carrier subsidize the pricing on up to $500-800 directly from Google. Unsure at this point but will keep you posted!
