Google Gives the Android Market a Facelift

Yesterday, Google announced on it’s blog that it is giving the Android Market a much-needed facelift. The company is rolling out the updates to all Android 2.2+ phones [issues reported for Honeycomb users].
“You’ll be delighted to find we’ve overhauled Android Market to make it faster, easier, and more fun to discover great apps, movies, and books,” the company said in the post about the update. “We’ve created more space to feature some of the most interesting content of the week on the home page. We’ve added more top charts, with newer, more relevant items, and we’ve made it easy to swipe through these charts as you browse the store. We’ve also introduced new collections of great content, like staff picks and Editors’ Choice apps.”
Reports are coming in that the new market has a bit of lag and, from personal experience, I’ve seen a few minor bugs, like apps I have installed not showing up in the My Apps section, but still being listed as installed on the actual app page, but those are things that, hopefully, Google will fix as it rolls out the update. If you’re too impatient to wait, a variety of places have the APK file up online for downloading as well.
