AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Features:

Google Chrome to Phone is one of the sexiest features of Android version 2.2 (check out what’s new in Android 2.2). The feature allows you to send webpage links which launches the page in the phone’s web browser, send Google Maps link that load up the Maps application, send YouTube video links that launches the player, send phone numbers that launch the dialer and copy simple text that can be pasted into text messages or email. Soon Android Market links will be able to be send meaning you can load Android apps in the Market from links from the web. Convenient! :D

Usefulness:

This app is extremely useful, I can think of countless use cases when you’re on the computer and would like that same information sent to an Android smartphone. Of course there are other solutions such as Share feature on webpages or emailing information to yourself, but that requires additional steps. If you’re a Chrome or Firefox user and Google Chrome to Phone is setup you’ll find this feature priceless!

This is the kind of features you can tease your iPhone drone friends about… features your Droid phone has but no others do. We like to call this G14 Classified!

Android Advice™ – How to Install & Use Google Chrome to Phone:

Only the first time setup are the only road bumps. You must download and install either Google Chrome extension or Firefox extension and download the Android app and be sure to sign in with a Google or Gmail account (Google Apps accounts currently not supported). Whether you’re on a page or highlight text, you can click the small phone icon in the top right of your browser, it sends to phone, and WAM Batman… you’re cool!

This is a very cool app! I love being able to send directions directly to navigator! Also saves a lot of time typing websites to my phone bookmarks – I just bring them up in Chrome and push them to my new Droid 2!!!!

    • Jason Norment says:

@KPark: It also works really well to use the new feature with Gmail to dial a number and have it connect to your phone. Essentially, it calls the number first then calls your phone to connect the call. Awesome!

Great app. But the thing i really don’t understand, is why it was published in Android Market for US and UK only. Google does some really dumb things with the regional permissions. Why not give it to everybody, since it’s free, and you can download the .apk file anyway, officially from Google’s servers. This is just stupid.

I have an android tap n tap and I can’t sync my apps, will this work on a tablet. Too.
